MSI P55-GD80 Pro Reviews

hardwaresecrets‘s review Edit

MSI P55-GD80 is an outstanding high-end motherboard for the socket 1156 platform, with tons of advanced features: three x16 PCI Express slots (although the third one works at x4 and the first two work at x8 when more than one video card is installed), support for both SLI and CrossFire modes, professional-grade on-board audio with terrific signal-to-noise ratio and on-board SPDIF connectors, thicker heat-pipe, high-end voltage regulator circuit, it automatically turns off unnecessary phases from the voltage regulator circuit for best efficiency and shows how many phases are being used at any given moment through an LED display, and much more.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

On the whole, the MSI P55-GD80 is a board for desktop PC enthusiasts with its long list of features and simple over-clocking. It is priced alright but MSI has not targeted the mainstream market with this model, leaving that role for lower-priced boards to penetrate the market later.

MSI has built good motherboards for years, but it has been a long time since it built a great motherboard. The P55-GD80 breaks that trend. From what we have seen with our GD-80 and a retail Core i5-750, the MSI P55-GD80 fits our expectations of a great motherboard. Great features, great overclocking, great stability, all in a cleanly laid out package that promises to be a good value. We have no problem suggesting the MSI P55-GD80 go to the top of your short list of P55 motherboards to purchase.

hardwarecanucks‘s review Edit

To conclude, when we first got this motherboard for preview, we were excited to try it out since it appeared that MSI had a product that could easily go toe-to-toe against the other high-end P55 motherboards that had been unveiled. Now that we have spent a considerable amount of time with the P55-GD80 we are still convinced of this, but it needs to be polished a little bit more. The hardware is sound and that's 90% of the battle, but the BIOS (ie: LLC) and the software still need some work.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

Finally, we come to the last contender - MSI P55-GD80. This is a board that like some of the brand's recent offerings, has a good blend of features for mainstream and enthusiast users. Admittedly, some of its overclocking features are not the most original but MSI has not been tempted to throw everything in. This 'balance' to cater to the more mainstream user while having some allowance for enthusiasts is best exemplified by the new OC Genie.
