Foxconn A79A-S Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

The Foxconn A79A-S BIOS is poorly laid out and simple features don’t work that are expected to be the norm in 2008. The JMicron RAID controller is buggy and sometimes a USB keyboard will not work at POST. Getting the board to overclock is a serious PITA. That said, it is a good Phenom overclocker if you can make your way through the frustration. It is tremendously stable at stock clocks. Not terribly expensive at $169 for a 790FX board, but there are better values to be had, although they are likely to not overclock as well.

The A79A-S is a genuinely good motherboard and performed well in our tests, but although it has some innovative features, the best of these will appeal only to a minority of enthusiasts.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

All things considered, our first impressions of the A79A-S are good, but given the poor performance from AMD processors of late, the A79A-S seems destined to be one that is only for diehard AMD fanboys.
