GIGABYTE GA-EP45T-EXTREME (rev. 1.0) Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

Gigabyte has built a hell of a motherboard in the GA- EP45T-Extreme. It is however not a board for everyone as it exhibits some quirks in terms of layout and memory speeds. If you are dead set on getting the fastest DDR3 memory speeds you can while overclocking your CPU, this is not the board for you. However if CPU clock speed is more of your concern, our FSB speeds of 580MHz on our E8500 (2320MHz Quad Pumped) with a little tweaking are very attractive.

However, there is nothing free in this world, and the price of Gigabyte GA-EP45T-Extreme mainboard is still quite high: over $300. Many of you may prefer a simpler and more affordable model and that will be an absolutely justifiable decision, especially if you are not going to overclock your CPU. But if you are, we would strongly recommend to pay special attention to Gigabyte GA-EP45T-Extreme mainboard. The unique thing about it is that it allows overclocking both - dual- and quad-core processors very easily, very quickly and to significant heights.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

With the Gigabyte GA-EP45T-EXTREME, the manufacturer has the best of both worlds, with a full copper block for liquid cooling together with an additional wall of radiating fins that takes up an expansion slot. Additionally, overclocking enthusiasts should be delighted with the extensive BIOS options on the EXTREME, along with the various LED indicators that have been added. Existing features like DualBIOS, XpressRecovery 2 and Q-Flash are all useful for enthusiasts.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

If money was not an option, the EP45T-Extreme platform is our pick, as this board is completely over the top – in both good and bad ways. The cooling system on this motherboard is excessive, but isn’t all fluff, as we were able to reach our highest overclocking levels on this board. The optional water-cooling support is nice if you have the additional gear needed to hook it up, but even without this, you can have a superbly cooled (and silent) motherboard by using the other cooling components. Again, the board’s feature set isn’t too excessive to introduce problems, but gives you everything necessary for a modern high-end gaming rig.

If you dig those double-mortgage mobos that pack everything plus a couple kitchen sinks but you can't afford one, Gigabyte might have the answer for you in the EP45T-Extreme.
