Gigabyte’s X48T-DQ6 is simply a great motherboard for almost all Intel Core 2 overclockers. Recent BIOS updates have allowed better OCing than the F4 BIOS that likely ships with the board, but follow the instructions exactly for updating. The X48T-DQ6 is one of the most stable motherboards we have ever tested punching through 61c ambient temperatures to operate stable under full CPU, GPU, and RAM load for over 20 hours.

The GA-X48T-DQ6 has shown us flashes of brilliance, only to let us down when pushed or even nudged into overclock settings that most buyers of this board will try. On the positive side, peripheral compatibility is excellent; we found all ports and expansion slots worked perfectly throughout our testing with a variety of peripherals.

The main improvements include redesigned processor voltage regulator circuitry with DES technology and better BIOS optimization. And while the new “economical” voltage regulator may not be very the practical yet for computer enthusiasts, the BIOS of the new GA-X48T-DQ6 is definitely a significant step forward and Gigabyte engineers surely have to be given proper credit for that. The biggest advantage of the new mainboard’s BIOS is no performance drop during overclocking that was so frustrating for many overclocking fans who used to work with Gigabyte platforms in the past. As a result, Gigabyte GA-X48T-DQ6 can be considered a very good choice for a high-end system.
