GIGABYTE's AMD offerings from the beginning have always had plenty of features and kick and while the MA790GP-UD4H isn't going to break any overclocking records, it will give you some extra speed. Combined with its IGP or discrete GPU options and connectivity features, this board is ideal for the budget conscious overclocker or someone who's wanting to build a gaming rig without spending the earth on all of your components. With a small price tag of just 129 USD over at Newegg it's cheap for what it has and with AMD processors costing a lot less than Intel's offerings at the moment it's extremely worth the consideration.

motherboards‘s review Edit

In terms of features, the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP UD4H motherboard has it all. Gigabyte outshines the other motherboard using the AMD 790FX chipset I've tested in every benchmark. I give the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H an Editor's Choice only due to the fact that I've only tested two boards on the new platform and the somewhat lacking bundle. As to the integrated graphics, the 790GX is the fastest integrated graphics on the AMD side of things. No one, who is serious about gaming, however, would use the HD 3300 integrated graphics; they would use an add-on card.

Finally, at US$119, it is a far cry from the prices that you'll be expected to fork out for enthusiast grade motherboards but a check with online retailers showed AM3 motherboards to be going for a similar range of prices, with at most ten dollars difference between this Gigabyte board and other AM3 boards. In which case, it boils down to whether you're willing to stump up the price difference for DDR3 memory. In short, it weakens the proposition of this motherboard, since we believe there's a group of DIY consumers who are likely to go for the newer technology (DDR3) given similar motherboard prices.
