GIGABYTE GA-MA785GMT-UD2H (rev. 1.0) Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

The MA785GMT-UD2H is a nice board coming from Gigabyte. It board is packed with enough ports and features that should satisfy budget buyers. Gigabyte is also going a step further than most manufactures by pairing the board with the Realtek ALC889A codec to give it support for Dolby Home Theater through S/PDIF connector. Though the ALC889A may not satisfy a true audiophiles, it is nonetheless a nice touch from Gigabyte to include it without incurring additional cost from the user.

Gigabyte's GA-MA785GMT-UD2H is an effective mainboard for anyone looking to build a low cost, energy efficient home theatre PC. At $80 CDN, ($75 USD, 45 GBP), it's a little slower than the similar MSI 785GM-E65, but it's also less expensive. More importantly, the GA-MA785GMT-UD2H has an HDMI output with HDCP, the AMD 785G offers up great hardware HD decoding, the platform is small, affordable, and friendly to a wonderful assortment of similarly placed AMD processors.

bit-tech‘s review Edit

At £68, it's not a lot to ask for a motherboard, especially when usual reports in the news these days are for boards costing upwards of £150. Compared to other, older 780G boards it's naturally a bit more expensive, which is also true of Gigabyte's 780G boards as well.Compared to just as capable GeForce 8200 boards it's an extra £20, but again you'll be missing AM3 and DDR3 support. Unfortunately, in terms of the layout, for those using the PCI-E x1 slot it'll likely conflict against the northbridge heatsink, and those SATA ports won't make for neat cabling, but, if you're not fazed by that then grab one, because you won't be disappointed.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

All in all, the boards performed very well. None were absolutely a shocker when it came to overclocking or blowing away one another, but they are designed to provide decent power at a minimal price and that is exactly what they do. Priced $90 - $124 depending on the model you choose, you will have a solid platform for your computing needs. The MA785GMT-UD2H uses a mATX form factor, which is great for HTPC and cases that have limited space. With the integrated video, it would also serve great as a base for a gaming server that you have always wanted to build.

With its powerful integrated graphics, video decoders, and a full complement of basic features, the Gigabyte is a snip at £65. Certainly, if you're building a media centre or small home PC, it should be high on your shopping list.

motherboards‘s review Edit

The MA785GMT-UD2H motherboard has a lot going for it. It is relatively inexpensive at 89.99 on Newegg as of this morning. For that price you get the full package including the best featured integrated graphics on the market, High Definition Audio in the form of the Realtek ALC889A CODEC, low noise with no fans on the NB, and a decent performer to boot. HTPC owners will love the fact that the integrated video and sound can play back full lossless Blu-ray with ease and do it without a noisy, hot external video card.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

Overall, the Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H is a very well constructed board. Despite the shear number of connectors crammed into the 9.6" square (24.4 cm) mATX form factor, Gigabyte managed to lay out the board relatively well.
