So, with certain effort, even an inexperienced overclocker may succeed with a Gigabyte mainboard, especially since the results of manual overclocking are always much more optimal than those obtained in automatic mode. As a result, only Gigabyte GA-870A-UD3 rev. 2.0 and 2.1 can be considered an adequate alternative to products based on a more expensive AMD 890FX chipset, if you are not going to use several graphics cards in your system. You can certainly go with any other of the tested mainboards, but in this case you should keep in mind everything we have pointed out about them, to make sure that you don’t end up disappointed with their performance.

motherboards‘s review Edit

GIGABYTE has done a decent job with their 870A-UD3 motherboard. The features including SATA 3, USB 3 and USB 3X Power is excellent additions to the standard motherboard feature set. Performance was just below that of an 890GX chipset which is to be expected. This board has a Core Unlocker that does the job of unlocking the locked two extra cores on a 960T CPU that is headed for the OEM market and the target market of a mainstream motherboard to go along with the AMD 890FX on the high end has been met with the 870 chipset.

Overall, we were impressed that GIGABYTE was able to pack so many features into the 870A-UD3 at such a low price and as such it definitely deserves our “DAM GOOD VALUE” award.

In terms of features, it was the Gigabyte 870A-UD3 that truly impressed us. For a mere $10 extra, this motherboard is on a league of its own and to be honest the 870A-UD3 feature set does not reflect that of a $100 motherboard, rather we would expect to pay $150+ for a board of this caliber.
