GIGABYTE GA-880GMA-UD2H (rev. 2.0) Pro Reviews

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

In performance terms, much obviously depends on the CPU you select. But with a six-core AMD Phenom II X6 1055T onboard, the 880GMA-UD2H is no slouch in multi-threaded software such as video encoding. What's more, despite the motherboard's compact microATX form factor, expansion options are extensive. PCI Express connectivity comes in the form of two 16-lane slots and a further single-lane port, although the second 16-lane slot only offers four electrical lanes. Gigabyte has also wired up an old school PCI port to the motherboard, giving you some legacy support to boot.

The Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H is a great mainstream socket AM3 motherboard, with the newest technologies such as USB 3.0 and SATA-600, and supporting the latest AMD CPUs. Thanks to the DirectX 10.1 on-board graphics, HDMI output, optical SPDIF output, eSATA-600 port, and the micro-ATX form factor, it is also a good choice for HTPCs (Home Theater PCs).

bit-tech‘s review Edit

The UD2H is stuck in the no-man’s land between the truly budget and the high-performance ends of the market. There are cheaper current-socket boards out there for those looking to cut the cost of upgrading, as the SATA 6Gbps and USB 3 support that the UD2H offers doesn’t come for free.

hardocp‘s review Edit

The Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H motherboard has shown to be a solid candidate in the realm of small form factor motherboards and those of you that want one know who you are. It is not the best overclocking in the world, but sure enough it is a far stretch from the worst. Considering that it is available for $99 from Amazon with free Prime shipping, it is hard to go wrong with the 880GMA-UD2H for your specialized small form factor build or HTPC box because this is surely a good value.

Top of the barrel performance, bottom of the barrel pricing should put the GIGABYTE 880GMA-UD2H at the top of your short list of mATX boards.

One of the cheapest USB3 and SATA III enabled motherboards we've ever reviewed and a great choice for building a capable and compact PC.

motherboards‘s review Edit

Most 880G motherboards have a single PCI Express x16 slot but the 880GMA-UD2H motherboard has a single slot for x16 operation and a single x16 slot for x4 operation, allowing two ATI video cards to be installed in CrossfireX mode. The one concern with the slots is on spacing but the installation of two 5770s or HD 5830s that are single slot would provide excellent performance.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

For those looking for a typical microATX 880G board that's not short of features, then the Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H is probably what they have in mind. With a complete set of storage options, this Gigabyte board has a sole weakness in its default integrated core clock speed and the lack of SidePort memory. Users can tweak the graphics core frequency to alleviate some of these concerns but then again, if graphics performance is that crucial, why would you be using the integrated solution in the first place?

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H delivers a host of features to support your AMD AM3 processor. Some of these features, such as the CrossFire graphics, are fairly pointless, but the inclusion of USB 3.0 is welcome and the combination of high performance and reasonable price is very appealing.
