OPPO BDP-93 Pro Reviews

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

It'll cost you twice as much as other high-end Blu-ray players, but the Oppo BDP-93 delivers enthusiast features along with top-notch speed and video-quality performance.

There’s no arguing with the Oppo’s flexibility. It’s just a shame for the audio purists – who will be most interested – that it doesn’t sound a smidgeon better.

At $499, the Oppo BDP-93 isn’t the cheapest 3D-capable player on the market, but it delivers one of the best user experiences at any price point. Like its predecessor, it’s the complete package, with a speedy interface, outstanding upconversion of DVDs, DVD-Audio and SACD support, and it plays both 2D and 3D discs flawlessly. You can find many of these features on players that cost a couple of hundred dollars less, but Oppo’s industry-leading customer support is worth the extra cash. In my experience, no other consumer electronics company delivers service this timely with such a quality product, which is why the BDP-93 has earned a permanent home in my system. Highly recommended.

Audioholics‘s review Edit

We're not going to surprise anybody by recommending the Oppo BDP-93 player. If you're reading this review I doubt you had any doubts. And honestly, we found a few flaws that surprised us, but given the landscape of players and what they offer it's hard to even ding this player out of a perfect score. The immature Netflix software bugged us, as did the fact that the player didn't automatically go to the Home screen when you eject or double Stop a disc (I mean, what good is staring at the logo screen when you have a Home screen???) Now, with that said, you can certainly find players that have more (and better) network features and cost a whole lot less. What you won't find is a universal player... let alone a universal 3D player. Oppo's got the goods. You want the goods. You must buy the goods... cause it's really that good.

AVForums‘s review Edit

Oppo are to be congratulated for raising the bar yet again, the BDP-93EU is a fantastic player that is genuinely universal. The addition of 3D Blu-ray compatibility to a machine that can already play 2D Blu-ray, DVD, SACD, DVD-Audio and CD means the BDP-93EU can handle any format you might care to throw at it. Not only that but the BDP-93EU does so with ease and authority, producing excellent video and audio from all these digital formats. The wonderful build quality and sensible design makes the BDP-93EU a pleasure to use and the load times are among the fastest I have seen. The new design and improved build quality also result in very quiet operation and the BDP-93EU is almost silent during playback.
