The ASUS M4A89TD PRO/USB3 is a very capable motherboard with multiple usage models. It is a great gaming platform (that will not cost you an arm and a leg) while also more than competent to handle workstation level tasks.

M4A89TD Pro and M4A89TD Pro/USB3 mainboards from ASUS are almost the same. They use the same PCB layout and have the same functionality. The only difference is that the USB3 model is equipped with an additional NEC D720200F1 controller to support USB 3.0. We are going to use M4A89TD Pro to discuss their functionality and features.

The ASUS M4A89TD-Pro/USB 3 motherboard does the job and does it pretty well. In terms of features the M4A89TD-Pro has support for USB 3.0, SATA 6 Gb/second and CrossfireX. One advantage of the 890FX chipset is full x16 bandwidth with two video cards like the HD5970 giving four GPU goodness with full bandwidth to both of the cards. Performance was good on this motherboard; with overclocking the board reached 4GHz. ASUS always includes good support and their MemOK! Button ensures memory compatibility.
