ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

ASUS has once again brought an outstanding motherboard to the table. The inclusion of 6.0Gb/s SATA support and USB 3 let the M4A88TD-V EVO shine. The onboard Radeon HD 4350 GPU allows us to put this motherboard to use in situations that don't require a behemoth of a video card but still need that extra oomph from a dedicated GPU, such as in an HTPC (for people who require more graphics support however, CrossFireX is included).

AMD products continue to impress us with their impressive feature sets at extremely reasonable price points and these two ASUS motherboards really did live up to our expectations in almost every regard. There were some stumbling points particularly with the mATX board but that doesn’t stop them from providing an well rounded experience at a budget friendly price point.

benchmarkreviews‘s review Edit

The ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 sits near the top of the stack when it comes to pricing for 880G/SB850-based motherboards. There are only a few boards with this chipset that are full size ATX models, and future models may well feature the SB810 Southbridge. Compared to the mainstream Intel H55 motherboards, this board is priced slightly lower at $107.99 from NewEgg. While the integrated graphics processor is far below the performance available from discrete graphics, it still beats the Intel IGP products. By integrating SATA 6 Gb/s into the motherboard chipset, AMD has created a real challenger to the Intel-based boards, especially at the sharp end of the market.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Likewise, sub-300MB/s in HDTach and a maximum bus overclock of 300MHz relegate this board to a mid-table position overall. But let's be clear. The margins are incredibly tight.

Gives AMD users a route to USB 3 and SATA/600, and at a decent price, too.

An AMD board with everything you need, plus some great features for easily getting the most out of AMD's cheaper processors.

motherboards‘s review Edit

In terms of features the ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 has all of the modern features one would expect from the latest generation including USB 3.0, SATA 3.0, and support for AM3 CPUs including the 6 core ones and external SATA. ASUS has included a variety of options for the Tweaker including a Core Unlocker that allows triple core CPUs to operate with all of the cores enabled. In terms of overclocking the board has all of the trademarks of an ASUS board including a wide variety of settings in the BIOS geared for the Tweaker in all of us. ASUS has a very solid product here at $119.99 on Newegg, with integrated graphics based upon the HD 4250 which are clearly lower in performance than the HD 4290 on the 890GX boards.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

Individually, there's no doubt that the ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 is aimed at a slightly higher end segment than its peers here. Firstly, its ATX form factor distinguishes it from the rest, while the number of extra features and more expensive components all have their own price tags. The higher default graphics core clock, better overclocking and the presence of its unique Turbo Unlocker feature all mean that this ASUS board is better than the other two, in terms of performance and features. Its price, at around US$120, is accordingly more expensive. Locally, its S$234 retail price is also one that's more suited to a higher end chipset, like the AMD 890GX.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

The ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 is a formidable board. It is well thought out and the engineering design and chipset takes it even further. Throughout the review, I really enjoyed working with this motherboard. It has all of the features you will need including USB 3.0 support, SATA 6.0Gb/s for next generation high speed drives and SSDs and enough multimedia connections to make a DJ proud. The board was stable throughout all of the testing, not just the overclocking portion.
