The ASUS Maximus II Formula is solid, stable, uber-tweakable, and delivers overclocking abilities that will more than stretch the limits of most CPUs while still taking advantage of that DDR2 you invested in so long ago. The M2F showed to stay up with the latest and the greatest in the benchmarks and have more features than you could probably ever utilize. And for those of you that care, this ASUS M2F just looks incredible with a great color scheme, stylish start and reset buttons, and just a great overall finish. And that is not something we say about motherboards too often.

We expected the Asus Maximus II Formula to be all things to all men and in some ways it does deliver. It has all the toys, a great layout, and it looks the part as well.

The new Maximus II looks absolutely spectacular and has decent performance, but in essence it is a P5Q Deluxe with the addition of a few bells and whistles. That means you're paying about £50 extra for the privilege of a funky cooling system and the LCD Poster and that doesn't seem like particularly good value for money.

The Asus Maximus II Formula has left us with mixed feelings, which is a bit of a shame given how excited we were to test this new motherboard in the first place. The board's feature set is impressive and the performance was acceptable, but we did have a few issues regarding stability. But before I begin to explain the problems we ran into, it should be noted that we have been unable to acquire a new sample of this product, so we cannot rule out the option this may be a problem limited to our sample.
