I was very pleasantly surprised at the performance of the P55-UD7. It was a solid and quick board. After our testing we think that the $249.99 price tag at NewEgg.com is pretty close to the mark for what you are going to end up getting. We have no problems recommending this one to you for your Socket 1156 love.

Summing everything up, we can say that Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD6 and GA-P55A-UD7 will surely appeal to customers with their broad functionality and special features. However, some of these capabilities may be unnecessary for you while the minor shortcomings we have mentioned above may be important. Such mainboards are not meant to be mass products, so you should see for yourself if they offer what you want at a price you are willing to pay.

GIGABYTE has taken their already very successful P55A-UD6 board and improved upon it. They added a NF200 chip to allow for extra PCI Express lanes and the ability to do 3-way SLI or Crossfire on this board. The second feature they include is the Hybrid Silent-Pipe accessory which cools the chips that run notoriously hot by putting a heatpipe module to transfer the heat. The other improvements include 10 SATA ports, and the USB 3.0/SATA 3.0 support from the other board. This board offers the performance and features you want from a P55 motherboard.

Although the P55A-UD7 isn’t cheap at over $300, we can say with confidence that you get what you pay for. You get an incredibly capable and feature packed board for your hard earned money, and we would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a top-end LGA1156 board. As such, we’re pleased to award the Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD7 Hardware Canucks’ “DAM GOOD” award.
