ASUS P7P55D-E PRO Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

The Asus P7P55D-E Pro board has shown us that Asus knows how to pack a lot of punch (Overclock and Feature wise) into a fairly affordable board. Priced in the $200 price range with Sata 3 and USB 3.0 that doesn't eat your PCI-E bandwidth, the Asus P7P55D-E Pro is going to be one of the more affordable enthusiast quality boards. We got a great (almost) 3.9GHz OC from Turbo Evo, so for beginners wanting a good OC without all the work of manually overclocking this is very likely one of the boards of choice.

pcstats‘s review Edit

The ASUS P7P55D-E Pro motherboard is among the first to embrace USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s connectivity, two technologies that will become a huge part of computing in the coming months. Performance wise there aren't a whole lot of differences between any of the Intel P55 Express motherboards, so it's easy to base choices based on build quality, features, and price. The ASUS P7P55D-E Pro motherboard has the first two of these in spades, and its prices is a reasonable $200 CDN ($190 USD, £125 GBP), which makes it ideal for a mainstream Core i5 or Core i7 system. If you were waiting for a motherboard to compete directly with Gigabyte's GA-P55A-UD4P, you've found your match! Recommended.

The ASUS P7P55D-E Pro falls in the middle of the pack when it comes to pricing for P55-based motherboards. Compared to enthusiast-level Intel X58 motherboards, this board is a steal at $179.99 at NewEgg. With its best-in-class integrated memory controller, the P55 often outperforms the X58 in head-to-head competition. By integrating USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gb/s into the motherboard, without disturbing the precious few PCI-e 2.0 lanes that need to stay dedicated to graphics processing, ASUS has created a real challenger to the high end P55 boards, and the low-end X58 models.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Handily, the 7P55D-E Pro board sports both USB 3.0 and legacy 2.0 ports, allowing a direct comparison to be made. With the same drive and enclosure connected via USB 2.0, the read/ write rates dropped to 30MB/s and 25MB/s respectively. Even with a conventional magnetic hard drive, therefore, USB 3.0 delivers over three times the throughput of USB 2.0. Drop a speedy SSD into the enclosure and performance will only improve.

When it comes down to price, I would have to give the edge to the P7P55D-E Pro. Its feature set and performance are a match for the P7P55D Premium, but it just can't reach the same clock speeds with the stability I require, most likely due to the difference in the power circuits. Both boards are are full featured boards - each with a little something special. You can't go wrong with either of the boards if you choose to join the masses that have migrated to the Intel Core i5/i7 socket 1156 platform. Performance, looks, software and hardware tools, overclocking credibility, and the latest features make the P7P55D series boards the perfect platform. All you have to do is decide on the features you want!

An early-adopter motherboard at an early-adopter price, but you get plenty for your money.

Overall the ASUS P7P55D-E Pro is a nice board. For the fairly low price of $189.99 over at Newegg, you get full speed USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0. In addition to that, you also get TurboV, EPU-6, high quality audio and a few other handy features that you would normally only find in a more expensive motherboard.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

Asus P7P55D-E Pro offers all the standard features you'd expect on a motherboard in this price range and keeps pace with the other LGA1156 boards we've tested, falling within a couple of percentage points one way or the other in our series of benchmark suites. It also offers USB 3 and SATA 6G, although the former is arguably more useful, and the price is competitive with other boards in its weight class.
