ASUS P7P55D-E Premium Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

The ASUS P7P55D-E Premium represents another P55 chipset motherboard from ASUS that is more of the same. Not that more of the same quality and more of the same stability, and more of the same overclockability are bad things. But in the big picture this motherboard is overpriced or undervalued in today's market, take your pick. Heck, there are much better values in the P7P55D line of motherboards alone. I just searched and found 10, yes TEN, different models of "P7P55D" motherboards, one starting at $139.99 with USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s technology on it. Paying an extra $130 for 36 phase power just does not seem worth it, especially when we are still seeing 8 phase power boards do incredible things. I think maybe we have reached critical checkbox mass in that area.

While we’re not too impressed with the performance of SATA 6Gb/s on available drives, USB 3.0 provides a huge performance leap compared to its predecessor. However, though Asus’ P7P55D-E Premium is a great all-rounder with some excellent features and obvious future-proofing, we can’t help but feel it’s not worth the £50 premium it currently demands over boards like the excellent P7P55D Deluxe. In fact we would advise holding off if you can; good things come to those who wait.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

At US$280, the ASUS P7P55D-E Premium deserves its premium billing and will be a tough sell to all but the most high-end enthusiasts. It's surprisingly not the most expensive P55 board out there but it's close. And it gets most things right, with its full support for SATA 6Gbit/s and USB 3.0 complemented by a very decent layout and feature set. As usual, there are ASUS proprietary features that may be superfluous but perhaps there are indeed some who will find them useful. The performance aspect was more or less what we had expected and even at its worse, this ASUS was still very competitive.
