ASUS P7P55D Deluxe Pro Reviews

motherboards‘s review Edit

ASUS has really gone the extra mile with their P7P55D Deluxe board with performance that exceeds that of its competition and a slew of new features including the Hybrid Phase and Xtreme Design. The board overclocked using ASUS’s automated overclocking utility to a respectable 3.15GHz totally stable. Hand overclocking got the board over 3.5GHz, a very nice overclock indeed. ASUS includes extras like the TurboV Remote which allows one button overclocking and the ability to clear the CMOS without having to dig around the back of the computer case. This is one Hot Product for the new i5 launch and ASUS even has one board higher than this the Premium version, which hopefully we will have for review very soon.

There really is no reason to not like the P7P55D Deluxe other than its price. Coming with an asking price of $219, the P7P55D Deluxe certainly isn't cheap. But when you step back and appreciate all the features the board comes with and how useful those features are, you start to see why its worth every penny of that $219.

Ultimately the tools are there if overclocking is something you'd like to try, and with the right memory and processor the ASUS P7P55D Deluxe will give you all the tools you need to go far. Bottom line, the P7P55D Deluxe is a very solid motherboard, with a lot of functionality and a few neat extras.

bit-tech‘s review Edit

At the time of writing we believe the Asus P7P55D Deluxe to retail for around £165. While we appreciate the prices of P55 will be respectively higher than P45 at launch, we feel the Deluxe does not do enough to warrant the cost considering what the competition offers. We really do like the board, it's exceptionally easy to use and has basically everything you'll ever need, but unfortunately that's probably too much for most people in this market. Considering we are only recommending people consider the Core i5 750, and not the i7 LGA1156 CPUs, the P7P55D Deluxe with CPU costs as much as a Core i7 920 and your pick of a dozen X58 motherboards.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Asus' Deluxe P55 board is itself a demon overclocker, enabling us to push our 2.93GHz Core i7 870 up by just over 1GHz. And that's an astounding result. Its memory bandwidth isn't the best in high-end terms, but as we've seen, bandwidth doesn't maketh the benchmark. Still, it's an expensive first outing for the P55 and we can't wait to see how the more affordable boards in the range perform when they tip up.

ASUS has delivered a very good product in the P7P55D Deluxe. I think that most of you would be very happy with the motherboard for your new P55 system. I still just come away from it feeling a bit flat. Hopefully the onslaught of ASUS BIOS updates will push this board to the levels of quality that we have come to expect from ASUS. Just for some reason I was expecting a bit more. ASUS has set the bar very high in my mind and did not reach it this time. If you are looking for an auto-overclocking motherboard, this is not the one you want.

The P7P55D Deluxe offers more than just cool features. Its performance was great, and it offered delicious overclockability. I can't think of a single con for this board. With that being said, I'd recommend this board to anyone wanting to utilize the new LGA 1156 socket. Great job, Asus!

It's packed full of features, but at this price it's probably suitable only for serious enthusiasts who'll match it with a fast Core i7 chip.

While we have not yet tested enough P55 motherboards to be able to proclaim which is the very best, we do know that the P7P55D Deluxe is a very good product, and we have no qualms recommending it to the enthusiast crowd. In summary, this is a feature-rich, mature, stable, overclockable, high performance P55 motherboard.

But let’s get back to where we started this review – Asus P7P55D Deluxe mainboard. It is simply amazing. Asus Company primarily stresses the new functions such as “OC Tuner Utility” that allows automatic CPU overclocking. I personally do not really care much about features like that for understandable reasons. At this point there is no utility that can provide the same results as manual overclocking, although I have to admit that technologies like that will be extremely helpful for overclocking beginners. I mostly like the fact that even when you change the processor clock frequency multiplier and core voltage, all power-saving technologies remain up and running.

The P7P55D not only has alot of features for a mainstream board along with quite a good variety of tweaking and overclocking options, but this truly a hardcore board aimed for the mainstream market. With a pretty reasonable price tag of just $219.99 USD over at Newegg, depending on what CPU you want, a Core i5 will set you back $200 or an i7 870 for a hefty $550; it's clearly much cheaper to setup a hardcore Lynnfield system.

It isn't cheap but the Asus P7P55D Deluxe is a perfect match for the new Intel Lynnfield processors and we just hope the competition can match this superb motherboard.

We'd like to thank our friends at ASUS for providing the P7P55D Deluxe for our review today. This is ASUS's premiere P55 motherboard and it didn't disappoint in any facet of our testing and evaluation. We initially had a few hiccups with some of our performance results being under par, but after a bit of research and tweaking, we were able to get strong results from this well designed motherboard.

Another solid performer in our testing was the Asus P7P55D Deluxe. Besides looking fantastic, Asus packed the bundle with extra goodies for those who enjoy tweaking their system to perfection. In addition, the board fared considerably well in all of our SANDRA benchmarks, while also displaying respectable overclocking capability. To top it off, the P7P55D Deluxe finished second in our fully loaded power consumption results, coming in behind Gigabyte's micro ATX model.
