ASUS P7P55 WS Supercomputer Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

I was very surprised with the features ASUS had included on the P7P55 WS SuperComputer Motherboard. For its price of $229.99 on Newegg, this board is definately something you might want to look into if you are looking for a powerful, stable, and power efficient motherboard that has more features than what you might ever use. TurboV Evo, T.Probe, the EPU Engine and the Turbo OC Tuner Profile in the BIOS make this motherboard an excellent overclocker as well as one of the most efficient motherboard on the market. The ASUS Xtreme Design is again another great feature ASUS included. It's special 16+3 Power Phase Design, 100% solid Japanese Capacitors, and the VRM load calibration system makes this motherboard stand out from the rest. During our testing period we could not find any disadvantages about the board, so in our opinion it is one solid build from ASUS that cannot be missed by any serious system builders!

Hmmm, the ASUS P7P55 WS SuperComputer could possibly be very misnamed. It lists itself as a workstation system, yet it is more than capable of operating (very well) in a consumer level system. It is very versatile with the extra lanes for either SLI/Crossfire or for multiple Tesla cards. No matter what direction you want to go, the P7P55 WS seems suited to the task.

motherboards‘s review Edit

ASUS has done an interesting job with the P7P55 WS Supercomputer motherboard. They have taken a consumer desktop motherboard chipset and adapted it for the workstation market. Intel’s P55 chipset supports the Xeon 3400 series which is the Server and Workstation version of the Lynnfield CPU family. This also supports up to three Tesla 2070 cards along with a Quadro card to provide up to 2 TeraFLOPs of computing power (double precision), making it a supercomputer equivalent to the Intel ASCI Red which was the fastest supercomputer in the world in 1999.

Both the ASUS P6T7 and P7P55 WS motherboards offer a slightly different set of features and specifications than the traditional motherboard in the gaming market. The P6T7 definitely is impressive for high-end users that are going to want to take advantage of multiple graphics card or other PCI Express-based accessories as it includes a total of 7 PCIe x16 slots along with the X58 chipset and support for the latest LGA1366 processors, including the upcoming Gulftown 6-core CPU.
