Samsung Omnia 7 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

Current Windows Phone 7 handsets will receive free updates to Mango once it's finally released to the public and, once new handsets are launched, you may find the Omnia 7 at bargain-basement prices. However, we much prefer Android's open Market and customisable home screens to Windows Phone 7's limited apps and rigid homescreen, however pretty and smooth it is to use.

reghardware‘s review Edit

While the Samsung Omnia is a likeable phone, up against the competition it soon becomes a battle of platforms rather than devices. If you like, or want, Windows Phone 7, the Samsung Omnia 7 shows it to its full potential, with a glorious screen and a respectable battery life. If you want more than just the odd snap or video clip, then be prepared to carry a decent camera with you too.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Samsung Omnia 7 sports a superb Super AMOLED screen, but in general lacks the wow factor to make it stand out from the rest of the Windows Phone 7 crowd.

Geeky Gadgets‘s review Edit

The Samsung Omnia 7 is quite an impressive handset, definitely one of the better smartphones we have reviewed this year, and I was pleasantly surprised with Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 OS.

The Samsung Omnia 7 is mostly a very nice handset. It’s largely glass and metal construction looks good and feels sturdy, while it packs in plenty of features and has a stunning screen for viewing video and playing games. However, the hardware lacks a certain something in design and is incredibly slippery. Moreover, while Windows Phone 7 is a slick operating system that will feel like a nice upgrade for users used to normal phones, for those used to the full gamut of capabilities available on alternative smartphones, it will feel too limiting.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Windows Phone 7 smartphones may be extremely similar, but the Samsung Omnia 7 manages to stick its head above the pack thanks to its gorgeous Super AMOLED display and an excellent design. If you're in the market for a Windows Phone 7 smartphone, the Omnia 7 should be at the top of your list.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

All in all, the Samsung Omnia 7 is a very feature-rich smartphone, which also comes in a dandy casing. Its almost all-metal body exudes a premium feel, while the stylish looks automatically make it a tempting offer that can easily compete with the rest of the initial Windows Phone 7 squadron. Hardware-wise, it is the same as any other WP7 device right now with a 1GHz Snapdragon chipset and a giant capacitive touchscreen. However, the display is of the Super AMOLED type, which helps it score some bonus points for having an incredibly high contrast and lush colors.

Engadget‘s review Edit

Well, we've done our gushing, and it's obvious that we're in love with Samsung's Omnia 7. Simply put, this phone's got all the right hardware to qualify as a brilliant multimedia device in today's standard, plus its form factor feels great in our hands. Given the choice between this and the Galaxy S, we'd definitely choose the former for its more luxurious metallic construction; but then we'd sober up and realize that we're drooling over a young WP7 device, and any sensible joe would hold back until the market is ripe for harvest. Either way, out of the crop of launch devices, the Omnia 7 makes a great snorkel if you fancy taking the first dip into Redmond's renovated swimming pool.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Samsung Omnia 7 is a pretty decent phone indeed – it especially impresses when you pick it up for the first time. The screen is pin-sharp, and the operating system just blows your socks off the first time you use it – this is Windows Mobile in opposite land.
The industrial look and feel of the phone might not be for everyone, but it still feels nice and fits in the hand well – whether it's different enough from the rest of the Windows Phone 7 clan, we don't know.

PC Pro‘s review Edit

So the Samsung Omnia 7 is a fine phone for the most part and Windows Phone 7 is a cracking attempt from Microsoft to get itself back in the smartphone race. But there are two big problems. The first is the general lack of apps and games. Microsoft refused to confirm an exact number, but using the Zune desktop application we were only able to find 581 available the day before launch.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The Samsung Omnia is a great Windows Phones 7 handset overall. It might not have the best camera options, but the screen is absolutely to die for. AMOLED displays aren’t the most common thing in the world of mobile phones and we love the vibrancy that it brings to your content and the size to beat most of the other rivals out there.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

The Samsung I8700 Omnia 7 is our first encounter with WP7-grade hardware and we walk away impressed. Microsoft has imposed some tough restrictions on what qualifies as WP7-ready. We’re talking top of the line processing power, large screens, powerful imaging and such.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Aside from the attempts by the UK operators involved to give you extra, the Samsung Omnia 7 appears, based on our play with all the handsets, to be the most straight-forward. While LG offers extras in the guise of DLNA support and Augmented Reality apps, and HTC brings Dolby Mobile and photo enhanced features, aside from the screen there is nothing here above and beyond all the other handsets.
