ASUS P6X58D-E Pro Reviews

bjorn3d‘s review Edit

During my testing of the P6X58D-E motherboard I was not all that disappointed with its performance. I tend to look at three main characteristics when it comes to reviewing motherboards. One of these three characteristics I look at is, how is the layout of the motherboard? Can I populate all three PCI-E ports and still be able to use my high end Creative X-FI sound card? In the case of this motherboard the answer is yes, I can. When it comes to my computers sound system I use nothing but the best. The second area I look at is, how does this motherboard overclock? The P6X58D-E motherboard did not disappoint me at all, being able to maintain a 205 BLCK for extended periods of times without so much as a hiccup, has got to say something about this motherboard. The final area I look at, is what comes with motherboard as far as features? The P6X58D-E motherboard supports some of the newest capabilities on the market today, USB 3, and being able to use SATA 3.0 (SATA 6Gb/s) and not to forget that this motherboard officially supports RAID on the SATA 3 controller has definitely gotten my attention.

benchmarkreviews‘s review Edit

In conclusion, the ASUS P6X58D-E demonstrated that it delivers system performance as good or better than competing X58-Express solutions, including the more expensive P6X58D-Premium model. The updated SuperSpeed USB-3.0 and SATA-III 6.0Gb/s RAID functionality is also a major future-proofing perk. The 16+2 Xtreme Phase Power Design offers energy efficiency similar to other motherboards of this platform when high-end power VRM features are incorporated.

The Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R (rev 2) and Asus P5X58D-E are very similar to each other in terms of price, features and performance. The D-E has a few things going in its favour though, such as its extra on-board overclocking features, friendly BIOS, extra power phases and slightly superior performance in our Media Benchmarks when overclocked. Against it however, is its lack of an IDE port, two fewer SATA ports and slightly inferior gaming performance when overclocked. It’s clear that both boards would make a great basis for a powerful but affordable LGA1366 rig, and with manufacturers and retailers slashing their prices to get your business, there has never been a better time to upgrade either.

It was always going to be a tough ask to best the bargainous UD3R without making big compromises in quality, but the P6X58D-E has managed to do so with room to spare.

HEXUS‘s review Edit

The layout is good, features are sharp, and performance is competitive against other X58-based boards. Indeed, the only competition we see for this board is Gigabyte's X58A-UD3R rev 2. HEXUS usually errs on the side of caution when doling out awards, folks, but the ASUS P6X58D-E's overall package is good enough that we can recommend it practically without reservation.

This motherboard provided good, clean, and reliable service. It was easy to overclock and went past 205 BCLK with minimal effort. Temperatures were always good on all the heatsinks, and performance was normal for a motherboard. The price is right and the performance was great!

The ASUS P6X58D-E is a very good board. It shows that it deserves its place at the upper end of the ASUS mainstream line-up. With options for overclocking, Tri-SLI and Crossfire, along with excellent memory performance, you could really use this in any role you wanted (multiple Quadros for graphics work etc.).

xbitlabs‘s review Edit

Thus, the ASUS P6X58D-E is one of the few up-to-date LGA1366 mainboards available from ASUS. Besides it, the same functionality including USB 3.0 and SATA 6 Gbps is only provided by the Rampage III mainboards from the Republic of Gamers series and by the ASUS P6X58D Premium. Comparing the latter to the P6X58D-E, they have similar PCBs, but the P6X58D Premium is equipped with two LAN controllers, has more heat pipes in its cooling system, and is equipped with an integrated SSD with Express Gate.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

Starting off with the most costly of the lot, the ASUS P6X58D-E is only a slightly scaled back version of the very similar P6X58D Premium. Even the layout was similar, which like the Premium, was excellent. With its performance also topping the benchmarks, we have to say that this ASUS board had the edge over the competition. The question is, whether you're willing to pay the higher asking price of S$439?

Asus reasserts itself in the modern X58 motherboard market with the spectacular P6X58D-E. Top tier overclocking and next generation features make this the socket 1366 board to get.
