LG Optimus 7 Pro Reviews

GSMArena‘s review Edit

This is only the second Windows Phone 7 device we’ve reviewed but we’re already getting a clear picture of what we can expect. The main differentiator will be the hardware, with minor perks included in the software. The LG E900 Optimus 7 is solidly built with a high-end spec sheet. In the face of the WP7 competition, it’s more or less an equal. That works both ways though – there isn’t much that the non-QWERTY Windows Phone 7 mobiles have to offer that the Optimus 7 doesn’t have. It’s hard to compare phones when they are so alike but here are a couple phones that the LG Optimus 7 needs to watch out for.

reghardware‘s review Edit

There’s not a huge amount of difference between the current array of WinPho 7 handsets but LG’s Optimus 7 distinguishes itself by being Vodafone only and offering a few unique apps, notably its DLNA networking feature. These aren’t enough to put it head or even shoulders above the pack but it’s a strong, well-spec’d device that’s definitely worth a look.

A reasonable deal as Windows phones go but it's still dear, and the OS still has much to prove.

Softpedia‘s review Edit

Windows Phone 7 is definitely a work in progress. My impression is that the platform was delivered unfinished. However, WP7 is certainly a good start for a new Microsoft project, which will probably become mature once Windows Phone 8 will make its way on the market. I believe that LG's try on a Windows Phone 7 is a success, even if the manufacturer had to abide by Microsoft's strict rules.

MacNN‘s review Edit

We're inclined to believe that it's one of the better launch phones and one of the best smartphones LG has ever made. Camera quality could still improve, and that Windows key could be made of sturdier material, but the phone design comes across as a labor of love that would have been unthinkable of LG a year ago

Great hardware, with a smart design and all the usual smartphone features, can't make up for Windows Phone 7's immaturity, but the added competition can only be good for consumers.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

There is no denying the Optimus 7 is an extremely polished handset and its implementation of DLNA is far and away its killer feature. On the flip side the camera is a disappointment and you'll need to buy in the knowledge that however slick Windows Phone 7 is it remains painfully short of core functionality at present. Vodafone price plans do make this easier to swallow, so if you've decided Microsoft's new OS is for you check the DNLA status of your existing gadgets and dive in. The water's great.

Engadget‘s review Edit

We feel somewhat odd giving such a high grade to a device that really brings nothing new to the table in terms of hardware. LG might be making gorgeous retina displays for a certain other phone maker, but that IPS goodness is nowhere to be seen here. The camera is also only mediocre, while the internal spec can be had on literally any other Windows Phone 7 device. What's really got us hooked, however, is the inescapable feeling of a quality piece of mobile kit.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

The LG Optimus 7 arrives at the market to be one of the more compact Windows Phone 7 handsets available initially. It's practicality doesn't come at the expense of usability though, as its screen measures the fantastic 3.8 inches. It has an overall good-looking and solid design, mainly thanks to the large metal back cover, and all the needed hardware to make it a worthy WP7 offering, such as the popular 1GHz Snapdragon chipset.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Because we've only looked at a few aspects of the LG Optimus 7, it would be unfair to deliver an overall verdict. What we can say is that we like the way Samsung has found some extras to add on to Windows Phone 7 that do seem to enhance its overall abilities.Play To is a real boon. To be able to send content from your smartphone to a TV or laptop via DLNA is a super feature. We bet all those businesspeople out there would like to be able to deliver PowerPoint presentations this way, but sadly that's not available on the LG Optimus 7.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

I really like the LG Optimus 7. I like the hardware design quite a bit, and think the 3.8-inch display is on the mark - I just wish that it was AMOLED based instead of TFT. The phone feels very solid, and I really like the hardware buttons on the device, except for the power button, that is. The camera could use a bit more tweaking, but at least reception for both phone networks and Wi-Fi networks is really good. Shame that the speakerphone is so bad, though.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

We found that our review Optimus 7 ran Windows Phone 7 perfectly well; apps open in a flash and Windows Phone 7 is generally a great place to be. We prefer the experience on the slightly larger devices however, and we don’t feel that the design is quite as sharp as that of the Samsung Omnia 7 or the HTC 7 Mozart.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

If this is the only differentiator among the many Windows Phone 7 devices we'll be seeing in the coming months, the LG Optimus 7 may get lost in the shuffle.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

We could go on for hours detailing the ins and outs of what the Microsoft Windows Phone 7 operating system will offer. Focusing on what LG brings to the party though, LG has created a handset that stands out enough from the crowd and offers something different from the likes of Samsung and HTC.
