The Intel DX58SO is an amazing motherboard that is priced lower than many of the other boards out there. It is a great performer that becomes even better than great because of its overclocking ability! This one is on the short list for sure!

Far too costly for such an under-specified board.

Well, let’s recall what we know about Intel DX58SO mainboard. It has a not very rich but sufficient accessories bundle and a long list of additional free software. It boasts unique PCB design, though it cannot be considered a “PC builder’s nightmare”, because some of the design peculiarities of this board turn into unique advantages at some point. The BIOS of Intel DX58SO mainboard is its obvious weak spot. It is not ergonomic or convenient to work with that is why it is hard to use this board as a testbed for anything else. You have to make a lot of extra moves to make more or less serious configuration changes. However, it shouldn’t be an issue for a mainstream user: you don’t really change your home system configuration on a daily and even monthly basis.

On the face of it the DX58SO offers a relatively cheap way into the X58 world of Core i7 but the questionable layout and poor performance make it something of a mixed bag.
