SHARP XV-Z17000 Pro Reviews

www.hometheater.com‘s review Edit

Apart from those black levels, the Sharp XV-Z17000 projector checked off the most important boxes for me. I definitely enjoyed the time I spent with it. 2D in particular drew me into movies on that big 101-inch screen in a way that smaller and/or dimmer 2D presentations—even technically better ones—do not. In the end, isn’t that what we want from a home theater display?

Although we’d seen and enjoyed Sharp’s Z17000 at last year’s IFA show in Berlin, nothing - including the projector’s own spec sheet and appearance - could have prepared us for just how engaging its 3D pictures are. It’s not quite as assured in 2D mode, but its 3D performance is good enough in itself to represent a significant moment in the development of 3D in the home.

ProjectorCentral‘s review Edit

The SharpVision XV-Z17000 is among the first true 3D 1080p projectors released and the first one to come in under $5,000. It lacks a number of features available on competing 2D projectors like long zoom range, lens shift, frame interpolation, and extensive color adjustments. So it is less less attractive for standard 2D use than some of its competition. But in the final analysis it is all about 3D, and with the Z17000's sparkling bright image and excellent 3D performance, it delivers on its promise.
