ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM Pro Reviews

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

A dual core Atom isn’t quite as impressive as you might expect, and we’d like to see faster graphics paired with it to improve the HD video performance. And while they keep the price low, the relatively slow hard drive and small amount of memory don’t let the Eee PC 1015PEM shine the way we’d expect it to, so it doesn’t break out of the netbook mould. If we were being picky we'd say it's a little heavier than we expected and we don't love the keyboard, the wrist rest or the sharp edges of the indicator lights scratching at our wrists. But these are quibbles; it's great to see USB 3 on a netbook, the battery life is very good and at this price the combination is great value.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Asus Eee PC 1015PEM netbook sells for a price of £301. It's definitely not the cheapest netbook out there, but it's hardly expensive. The Eee PC 1015PEM packs in a dual-core Atom N550 processor and comes with some noteworthy features such as online storage, a quick-boot OS and a matt screen. However, it only has 1GB of RAM, and its battery life is below par compared to other netbooks in our Top 5 Netbooks list. More importantly, the dual-core Atom N550 doesn't offer any significant performance bump compared to the older single-core Atom N450 processor. Nonetheless, consider the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM for its features, if you're looking to buy a netbook right now.

reghardware‘s review Edit

Asus' Eee PC 1015PEM packs in as much new technology as you'd expect a netbook to offer, but the result is underwhelming. There's no real improvement in performance over previous generations, though the battery life is better. But netbooks like these are going to have to become considerably more lithe if they're not to be quickly out-evolved by tablets.

If you want USB 3.0, Asus' Eee PC Seashell 1015PEM is one of the first netbooks to offer it and therefore an easy choice. If not, there are plenty of other options around, though this Seashell might still be worth picking up if you don't mind its keyboard.

With several improvements over its predecessor, including a dual-core processor and a lower price, this 10.1-inch netbook is a suitable supplement to a full-size laptop.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

For only $20 more than its single-core cousin, the Asus Eee PC 1015PEM's dual-core Atom CPU handles multitasking better, but this Netbook doesn't offer the features or performance we've seen in higher-priced "premium" alternatives.

Notebookcheck‘s review Edit

The Asus Eee PC 1015PEM leaves a good impression. However, life on the fast track won't be possible with it. The new Intel Atom N550 accelerates simple office tasks and Windows 7 Starter's performance noticeably. But it doesn't supply more performance for games and HD videos. If you want to also enjoy HD videos and games on a netbook, you should look out for a HD decoder or a stronger graphic unit.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Asus could have easily charged a big premium for Intel's latest dual-core Atom, and it could have easily bundled a smaller battery and been satisfied with 5-6 hours of battery life. But for a sub-$400 netbook, you get a good-looking design, a smoother web and office productivity experience, and enough battery life to leave the AC adapter at home. Increasing the size of the keyboard and tweaking the mouse buttons are the only adjustments that need to be made.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

The $369 ASUS Eee PC 1015PEM offers better overall performance than single-core netbooks at a reasonable price. Its good looks, robust software bundle, and long battery life are also points in its favor. The keyboard is a bit cramped, and you don't get smooth 720p video playback (at least online). But for shoppers who want a netbook that's zippy when performing everyday tasks and lasts all day on a charge, the 1015PEM is a very good choice.
