ASUS ENGTS 450 DirectCU/DI/1GD5 Pro Reviews

motherboards‘s review Edit

The ability to overvolt the card for the serious overclockers means that this card can reach even higher clock speeds with non-standard cooling solutions. Be aware that the card is overclocked out of the box to beyond the levels NVIDIA talked about during the briefing on the GTS 450; meaning ASUS has really done a great job with performance exceeding 10% of the reference card across the board.

softpedia‘s review Edit

All in all, considering the price and the extra performance gained thanks to the high factory overclocked, I don't see why anybody should bother getting a regular GTS 450 graphics card, the Asus ENGTS450 DirectCU TOP being their best choice available now, since that $140 price tag is hard to ignore.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

What is there to say about the ASUS ENGTS450 TOP video card? I will start off by stating that the card is not only factory overclocked with some pretty stout clock speeds but I was able to pull more form the card once I increased the voltages a bit. I was able to increase the clock speeds up to 975/1950MHz on the CUDA cores and a nice bump to 1090MHz on the memory. By far this was the fastest of the cards in stock trim. The price point for the ASUS ENGTS450 TOP is set at $129.99, which is only $5 more than Newegg.com currently has the Palit GTS 250 set at.

techPowerUp!‘s review Edit

The final verdict on the GTS 450 itself is not definitive. The GPU does not stay ahead enough of the Radeon HD 5700 series to create the kind of dilemma buyers faced that made them choose the GeForce GTX 460 768 MB over the Radeon HD 5770 when the former first came out. Instead, it's stuck in between the HD 5750 and HD 5770, and leans very close to the HD 5750 in terms of performance. Choosing a card in this segment has been a tough decision, and will now be even harder. Bring in the dice.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

This TOP Edition's overclocked loving though does give it the edge, but the cost here too is going to make things tricky when you're making your buying decision. It's still a good card, but it's really only as good as the AMD offering. Unfortunately then for Nvidia it's not quite the card-killer that it might have hoped it would be; maybe worth a look in SLI but for now it's still far too close to call definitively.

hardwarecanucks‘s review Edit

After testing six different GTS 450 cards (the rest of the reviews will be up shortly), we can say without a doubt that ASUS’ TOP DirectCU edition stands out from the competition. It still carries some of the not-so-perfect performance deficiencies of the reference GTS 450 but it has been engineered and pre-overclocked in such a way that issues have been neatly swept under the rug.
