ViewSonic ViewPad 10 Pro Reviews

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Mixing a sluggish Windows tablet with an outdated Android one makes the Intel Atom-powered ViewSonic ViewPad 10 less than ideal for either OS.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

It may be priced competitively, but the ViewSonic ViewPad 10 it doesn't come close to competing with the best tablets available. Windows is crippled, Android is out of date, and the elegance promised by tablets is replaced with lumbering awkwardness.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

At £425, the ViewPad 10 is £26 more than an iPad 2, is heavier, with less than half the battery life and has an awkward dual-booting system. It may provide an opportunity for businesses to keep using their Windows software while exploring Android. Most consumers will probably want to look elsewhere though.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

Nowhere close to being in the forefront of the tablet space, the outdated and non-optimized Android experience with the ViewSonic ViewPad 10 is an appalling step backwards in the opposite direction that Google is taking their beloved platform. Though, it’s nice to see that you literally have the full advantage of a mobile laptop thanks to Windows 7 – even more when you’ve got various ports at your disposal to enhance the experience.

We were disappointed by the Viewpad experience, and at this price it's no bargain alternative to the iPad, which remains our tablet computer recommendation.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

We're not overly impressed by the ViewPad 10. Not so much because of the hardware - which is decent, if not outstanding - but because Windows 7 in touch mode on a small screen is a big disappointment. We were surprised to find the Android experience much more compelling, despite its limitations. With a more tablet-oriented version of Android, the ViewPad 10 might be a different story altogether. But for now, at this price it's going to struggle to attract buyers away from the iPad.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Surprisingly the hardware powering the ViewPad 10 is rather responsive. Neither of the dual-boot operating systems are relevant for this type of device and only the Windows 7 OS is actually usable; the Android 1.6 option continually fell over. Despite the responsiveness of the capacitive screen, the viewing angle is poor, the dotpitch chunky and the aspect ratio positively obstructive to anything but movie-viewing. And the five and a bit hours of battery-life is just not good enough for a tablet.

If nothing else, the ViewPad shows Atom-powered Android tablets could have a bright future - but this one is too raw to recommend.

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The ViewPad is an interesting attempt at a tablet that tries to appeal to fans of both Windows and Android, but it’s ultimately let down by software flaws in both operating systems.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

If you already own an old netbook, ViewSonic also runs a cool trade-in scheme, which we already talked about earlier today. Though the rebate of £135 also needs to cover postage, you'll still be getting the ViewPad 10 for under £400, which makes it a much more tempting proposition. However, purely as a tablet, we are more taken with the ViewPad 7, which we will give you additional details about along with those of a new projector, 3D camcorder, and 3D monitor in an upcoming article covering the rest of Viewsonic's showcase.
