Panasonic VIERA TX-L32S20 Pro Reviews

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

It’s ironic that the birth of LED technology - which tends to produce deep, more believable blacks (as well as achieving a slimmer design) - has become popular just as old-fashioned LCD tech has got its act together on that front. And while this chubby Full HD LCD is bereft of digital age add-ons such as USB, internet TV and DLNA, Panasonic has combined a Freeview HD tuner with some stunning upscaling tech and a classy Blu-ray picture. The list price is too high, but if you can find it online for a more realistic £599 (we did) the TX-L32S20B makes a lot of sense.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The S20 is a fine mid-range TV that delivers a great picture performance, but at present we think it's a little bit expensive for what you get. Panasonic has obviously added a premium to this set by incorporating the Freeview HD tuner, so the price doesn't really reflect the fact it lacks extras such as Viera Cast and USB ports. However, as the World Cup fever dies down you're likely to be able to pick up the set for around £100 less, which would make it a much more tempting proposition.

The Panasonic TX-L32S20B has a list price of £749, which is rather high for the range of features on offer. However, it can already be picked up for around £600 online and in larger stores and is likely to fall by another £50 - £100 once World Cup fever subsides, because that’s the subsidy manufactures are putting on sets with T2 tuners right now. At that price point it becomes worthy of serious consideration due to its excellent SD and HD performance.

Despite some areas of genuine expertise, the Panasonic TX-L32S20 can’t quite do enough to merit the full five stars – so a decent showing at four stars it will be.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

It’s good to see a Panasonic LCD TV being sold at a genuinely competitive price - and the L32S20B does enough things sufficiently well to represent decent value for money at the sub-£500 level. At the same time, however, the L32S20B lacks the black level talent to really challenge the LCD A-list, and does little to change our long-held view that Panasonic’s mastery of LCD technology is still some way short of where it’s at with plasma.
