Canon PIXMA MP280 Pro Reviews

printercomparison‘s review Edit

For about $70, the Canon PIXMA MP280 inkjet offers three energy efficient, functional devices in one; meaning this machine has proven to be dependable during the testing of all different kinds of print jobs. It never once misfed, misaligned, or jammed. The black and white photo printing quality is well above average quality for its class and the default black text printing is dark and clear, and did not smudge. The areas which may need improvement as far as quality goes are the 4x6 photo printing and the standard image printing. A noticeable chink appeared in the 4x6 printing that was not in the original copy.

The Pixma MP280 delivers quality photo and document printing at a very low price, but it lacks some features that small offices may consider essential.

PC World‘s review Edit

At just $70 (as of August 20, 2010), the Canon Pixma MP280 color inkjet multifunction printer (print/copy/scan) is priced to tempt budget-minded users. It offers impressive output quality, but its minimal features and higher-than-average ink costs mean that only low-volume users need apply.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The Canon PIXMA MP280 retains much of the appearance and many of the features of its predecessor, yet while it has increased print speeds overall, it has abandoned any PictBridge capability and shown a disappointing decline in photo quality.

For $70, you get in the Canon Pixma MP280 Photo All-in-One Printer a basic MFP that will produce decent output at a good speed for its price.

There's about £10 difference between the PIXMA MP495 and this machine, the MP280, and for that you get the wireless network support in the MP495. Canon would like you to think you also get a speed improvement but, from our tests, you're likely to see very little difference in either speed or print quality. Both machines are good value and you should choose between them depending on whether you need wireless connectivity.

The Pixma MP280 has a price to please students or other monetarily-challenged shoppers, and it produces output worth showing around. Just don't expect much from the features, or the ink pricing.
