Palit Radeon HD 4870 Sonic Dual Edition (512MB) Pro Reviews

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

When you factor in the benchmark results where it performed a little better than the standard version, along with its huge and relatively power-efficient cooler, then suddenly, the Palit Radeon HD 4870 seems like a very good choice for its class after all. In fact, unless you absolutely abhor the Palit brand (or strongly prefer another brand), we simply can't think of any reason why you shouldn't pick this over a similarly-priced standard HD 4870.

If you find yourself wanting something a bit different while also running a little bit faster, the Palit HD 4870 Sonic is a great option. As far as HD 4870s go, there isn’t a whole lot more you could ask for. Throw in the fact that Palit have also added Display Port and the card is pretty feature packed.

While we would probably suggest most people save the dollars and just go down the 512MB route, if you’re looking for more memory then the Palit is a good option with a huge amount of features on tap, including a nice out-of-the-box overclock.

Palit made a great modern impressionist painting that is good but will never be as good as it should have been. That being said, the HD 4870 Sonic Dual Edition is still a perfect card for those of you who want a well-priced HD 4870 and are willing to live with the noise it produces or simply unplug a single fan cable.
