ViewSonic ViewPad 7 Pro Reviews

tabletpcreview‘s review Edit

In theory, the ViewPad 7 is a very modern and powerful tablet that has a lot to offer, regardless of the mobile network operator. In practice, it has as many shortcomings as positives, which is why one should be careful while purchasing it. The tablet's specifications can easily be misleading to the potential customer, given that they do not say anything about the poor screen imaging, the inadequate user interface, lack of Flash support and similar details which can be important for everyday usage for many.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

On paper, Viewsonic Viewpad 7 has a long and impressive feature list, but its flaws far outnumber its features.

Better still, Viewsonic is currently running a promotion to give you £100 back on the £400 you'll lay down for the ViewPad 7, if you have an old netbook kicking around you can trade in. At £300, this 3G-enabled tablet is very tempting indeed, but you'll have to spend your cash-back on a memory card - this tablet only comes with 512MB of Flash on board.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

The ViewPad 7 is a high quality tablet that actually performs rather well overall and it does offer the ability to cheaply expand on-board storage. With FroYo at the helm, we found ourselves growing more and more fond of the device and think it would make for a decent supplemental PC companion for most folks. If ViewSonic were able to get the price down a bit more, it could even be a slam-dunk.

Compact, stylish and with a host of useful features, but a little underpowered next to the Galaxy Tab.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

At £300 it's not a bad price, and with Android 2.2 and Google Market on board it's not a bad little tablet either. If you've already got a smartphone, you'll more likely use that first for anything you'd do on the ViewPad 7. At seven inches it's a bit of a half-way house between a proper tablet and a good phone, in the end competing with neither.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The ViewPad 7 offers a solid platform for Android 2.2, but it comes off as an oversize, overpriced smartphone--not a netbook alternative.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

Despite various issues, this user would be happy to call the ViewPad 7 our own and could see ourselves making use of its video and gaming features. A netbook/laptop trade-in for £100 off at Misco makes it a better deal right now – we’d hope to see the standard price drop by this amount by early 2011.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

To wrap up, the ViewSonic ViewPad 7 is cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and rightly so as it can't really compete with it on any other point. The 7-inch screen is a nice size, but other than that it fails to present the user with a pleasant experience as far as resolution and viewing angles go. Sadly, this makes the ViewSonic ViewPad 7 pretty uncomfortable for watching movies or simply using the tablet in certain positions. That said, the ViewPad 7 is still a nice touchscreen device to surf the web on the go with.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

At $479 (expected to be lower through some outlets), the Viewsonic ViewPad 7 is worth a look for those who crave an inexpensive Android tablet that's easy to tote, especially if you don't want to be locked into a two-year contract. It's about $100 less than the Verizon Galaxy Tab, and you should be able to plug in a SIM Card for making phone calls and surfing the web when you're beyond hotspot range. Unfortunately, we couldn't get the 3G to work as advertised.

It's a big improvement over Viewsonic's ViewPad 10, but the Galaxy Tab is a similar price, faster and has better customisation of the OS.

ViewSonic's ViewPad 7 Android tablet looks good, is fairly well built and has plenty of features, not to mention a great case. However, it's seriously let down by its uncomfortable shape, slow 600MHz processor and a low-resolution, slightly unresponsive screen.

First off, some extra details on the ViewPad 7, which we already had a play with at IFA2010. As mentioned, its design is undeniably classy and it feels well-built, but its appeal is further enhanced by a really nice leatherette case that comes with it as standard. This not only protects the tablet from wear and tear, but can also act as a stand.
