Sony BRAVIA KDL-40NX713 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The stunning design and excellent connectivity makes the KDL40NX713 one of the best high-end TVs we’ve seen, but image quality can’t match cheaper plasma sets

In general, and especially with a well-sorted Blu-ray disc such as Avatar or a good game such as Gran Turismo 5, the Sony’s engaging enough. And that’s a sentiment that neatly summarises the KDL-40NX713 as a whole. It’s nothing revolutionary – in fact, in some senses, it’s old before its time. But it works very well indeed, it’s good to look at and it’s not too expensive. And that’s enough to earn it our respect.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

The Sony KDL-40NX713 isn’t the most advanced 3D television you’ll see. Indeed, if 3D is the top priority for you, you’d be advised to look elsewhere. But you should still be able to get an enjoyable experience from watching even 3D on this screen, and it’s an excellent choice for two-dimensional HD and SD. Less a dazzling showstopper and more a modestly sized but generally well-specified television that’ll work extremely well as an everyday device – and with good online facilities to boot – the pleasingly priced Sony is an excellent choice for those who want admittance to the newest game in town, but aren’t sure they want to pay for the best seat in the house.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Yet another strong screen from Sony, with decent pictures across all sources and its best-in-the-business Bravia Internet Video service. A superb all-rounder for 2D, there is an option for a 3D add-on but that will set you back a few hundred quid at least. Our advice is not to bother - just enjoy this Bravia’s ballistic Blu-ray pictures.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

This designer set is a top-flight picture performer and looks fabulous with Blu-ray. As a 3D proposition it has flaws, principally because you'll need to invest more cash to obtain the required accoutrements. But overall, the TV gets two thumbs up.

Considered first and foremost as a 2D TV - which is, after all, how it sells in its 'native' state - the 40NX713 is a really fine option for a relatively discerning viewer. The price of under £700 we’ve found online makes it great value too. Crosstalk issues make it a more compromised 3D performer if you decide you want to upgrade it. It’s still not a bad effort, but if 3D is really important to you, you might be better waiting for Sony’s true next-generation 3D panels to start coming through in a couple of months.
