Philips 32PFL9705H Pro Reviews

It’s a decent set and, as we said, a very desirable one – but that price, the lack of HD tuning and some other niggles conspire to undermine it.

This is a terrific TV. The image quality is spectacular, the sound acceptable and the features plentiful and well-executed. If you like Ambilight, that’s an extra bonus. If you don’t, give it another chance, why don’t you? It’s great. The remote control has a steep learning curve that not everyone will care to scale and it’s not exactly cheap, but those are the only downsides to a proficient, highly likeable TV.

Despite the aggravatingly absent Freeview HD tuner, by combining its powerful picture processing engine with some startling new local dimming direct LED finesse, Philips has set a new performance benchmark for the 32in TV marketplace. Admittedly it’s a benchmark most people probably won’t be able to afford, but at least the price is justified.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Philips likes to push boundaries with its flagship 9000 Series TVs and it's done this again in grandstanding style with the 32PFL9705. What's more, it's done it on two fronts. In feature terms, its expanded its multimedia support with the unique MediaConnect system, offering a really great way of getting your TV and PC to work together for people not comfortable with the usual more inscrutable TV file streaming approaches.
