Ricoh CX4 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

A minor update over the CX3, but the lower price makes this a serious contender for the compact ultra-zoom crown.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

The Ricoh CX4 is basically a high-end point and shoot camera, and for both ordinary everyday shooting and fun photography, it performs well. Travel photographers on a budget looking for a neat package that will fit in a pocket will be impressed by its sleek looks and large zoom range, but serious photographers could be left disappointed by a lack of manual control.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

If you already own the CX3 you may well think twice before upgrading after so soon for what are mostly minimal improvements, but if you're new to the series then the CX4 is a sturdy, good quality image maker with a wide range of creative features.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

With only a few new features on offer the CX4 offers very little reason to upgrade from the 6-month-old CX3, and the removal of the useful handgrip actually makes it less easy to use than its predecessor. With rival models offering bigger zooms and more manual controls, Ricoh's CX-series is starting to slip behind the pack with this modest update.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The CX4 continues Ricoh's tradition of well-made, technically advanced high-performance long-zoom cameras, and introduces a couple of useful new features to an already impressive list. Performance and results are good, however the ageing body design is looking a bit stale, and the inconsistent exposure metering and less-than-perfect lens are disadvantages.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The lens reach and monitor resolution may mark the CX4 out as a more serious proposition for the photo enthusiast than your average snapshot camera, but in fact this Ricoh is a pretty much auto everything point and shoot model none the less. While it may lack the finesse of big zoom compacts from bigger name brands the CX4 is another competent and solid performer from the manufacturer. Though it doesn't really offer a significant step on from previous iterations, it does most of what is required of a modern travel zoom and won't break the bank.
