Olympus Stylus-1050 SW Pro Reviews

Photography Review‘s review Edit

The Olympus Stylus 1050 SW is a handsome, practical camera that will serve hard-charging outdoor enthusiasts well. I happily took it with me on most of my trips to the ski resort this winter and have lots of great photos to show for it. It has a few faults, namely the too easy to open sliding lens cover, poor battery life in the cold and less than stellar image quality.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

Waterproofing, ruggedizing, and a unique "tap-control" feature don't make up for subpar image quality and long shutter lag in this Olympus point-and-shooter.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The 1050 SW doesn’t mess too much with a winning formula, taking the earlier 850 SW, slightly boosting its resolution and screen size, while adding tap controls. That’s essentially about it though, and while it may have been sufficient without serious competition, Pentax has really taken the bull by the horns with its latest Optio W60.

The 1050 SW offers mediocre specs, but this very rugged little camera shoots stunning photos.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

Olympus has done something truly impressive with the Stylus 1050 SW: build a meticulously crafted ultracompact that's capable of going anywhere, and bring it market at a price well below what's been expected for an extremely rugged ultracompact.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Despite its decent features and handy Tap Control, there's no getting past the slow performance of the Olympus Stylus 1050 SW.

infoSync World‘s review Edit

The Olympus Stylus 1050 SW failed to impress us on many fronts, and that's not just because the camera died a ghastly death when we submerged it in a block of ice as part of our "Freezeproof" test.
