Now that the enV 3, enV Touch, and Samsung Reality are all gone from Verizon's messaging phone line-up, the Octane is easily the best device in this category. The camera was a little disappointing, but I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is a serious texter.

The LG Octane will be best for those who primarily focus on voice and text messages for communication. All the other features are passable, but not nearly as robust as on other handsets. While the "Octane" name conjures images of supercharged performance, this enV successor is packing low-grade diesel at best.

The LG Octane continues the earlier enV3's tradition with versatile screens, great keyboards, and a solid mix of apps, but the Octane isn't as good a voice phone and the UI feels stale.

Overall, the LG Octane is not a suitable replacement for the enV3 due to the call volume fluctuation and echo issues that it exhibited with phone calls. But in the other areas, the Octane still isn’t as good as the enV3, such as the one-piece membrane QWERTY keyboard, lower volume music player, and camera images not looking as good. In fact, the only thing we seem to like about the LG Octane is the updated exterior styling and the larger front display. It is unfortunate that LG dropped the ball on the Octane, and we can only hope that a firmware update will fix the call problems.
