NOKIA X3 Touch and Type Pro Reviews

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The unlocked Nokia X3-02 is yet another model in a long line of capable, unlocked Nokia cell phones that few Americans need or want; if you're one of the few target customers, Nokia offers much better options.

GSMArena‘s review Edit

We found ourselves surprised at how likable this phone is – the Nokia X3-02 Touch and Type is not only slim and attractive but it’s also got the specs to match most other feature phones. We only wish it had a slightly more competitive price tag.

An affordable phone that offers a good keypad and a reasonable touchscreen, the Nokia X3-02 is a decent choice for those who can't let go of physical buttons. With no GPS and poor app support though, it's tough to recommend over an Android alternative if the keypad doesn't light your fire.

Adding a touchscreen to S40 could have ended up as an unholy dog's dinner but it hasn't. Rather, Nokia has delivered a system of control that makes other candybar mobile phones feel rather dated.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Nokia hasn't really done a great deal that's wrong with the Nokia X3 Touch and Type. Making the S40 operating system touch aware breathes a bit more life into it, and there are some very positive features such as long battery life and good build quality. But at this pricepoint, the competition is fierce. Android already has its place firmly staked out, and we think it can only push Nokia harder as time rolls on.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

With the focus on mid- to high-end smartphones, it’s easy to forget that there’s a considerable market for capable, well-designed feature-phones. The X3-02 isn’t perfect in that respect – we’re not keen on Nokia’s tendency over the years to tinker with their keyboard layouts – but the numeric keypad isn’t as outlandish as some we’ve seen from the Finns, and the tactile buttons go a long way to making up for it. The touchscreen may not be capacitive but it does the job, and S40 lacks the finesse and ambition of a smartphone platform but should satisfy most mainstream users.

Softpedia‘s review Edit

The sleek phone is made to impress at first glance. Nokia really did a good job with the X3-02 Touch and Type. The new touch-optimized S40 UI gives the common Nokia user another pleasant perspective over the phone's functionality. Even though, the X3-02 is not a cheap phone, it's definitely worth a try.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

To sum up, we thoroughly enjoyed our time with the Nokia X3-02. It is a truly innovative S40 phone that mixes cool ergonomics with a wonderfully affordable price tag and good overall styling. The touch screen implementation only enhances usability and it is clear that Nokia made a concerted effort to make connectivity a primary concern. In turn, if you're looking for something more affordable than a smartphone that can still manage your email and surf the web, and can get past the keypad layout, the Nokia X3-02 comes recommended. Alternatively, you can consider the Sony Ericsson Zylo if you're in need of a GPS on your phone, or, if you're looking for a simpler offering with a similar interface, the sliding Nokia X3-00 would be another worthwhile consideration.
