Sapphire HD 5770 FleX 1GB GDDR5 Pro Reviews

Fudzilla‘s review Edit

Sapphire 5770 Flex Edition definitely stands out of the crowd in its price range. For less than €100, you get a card that will run three displays with no limitations. When we say limitations, we mean Eyefinity, as it normally limits you to two displays unless you use DisplayPort. Thankfully, HD 5770 Flex Edition didn’t ignore DisplayPort either and, provided you use it of course, you can chain up to four displays on a single card.

The idea is a great one, Eyefinity gaming without DisplayPort, but the card itself is only just up to the task, for now.

motherboards‘s review Edit

The FleX Edition card allows the use of up to three monitors without using an adapter, or four using the DisplayPort making this an excellent choice for business professionals wanting more screen space, or a gamer wanting to play on three screens, for a reasonable price of $169.99. Sapphire has added excellent value to an excellent video chip.

Sapphire is the first to market with a truly unique version of the Radeon HD 5770 that allows users to integrate an Eyefinity gaming solution without the need for an expensive active adapter. The custom design and unique implementation make this probably the best HD 5770 on the market though I still feel the feature would be better served on a higher end graphics card like the HD 5870. If you are comfortable with some overclocking on your own though you can push this HD 5770 a bit further to get more value of your dollar and I think you'll be very happy with your GPU purchase.

tweaktown‘s review Edit

It's all a little confusing, but here's some configurations you could run; three DVI monitors of 1920 x 1200 60Hz or lower with the help of the DVI to HDMI adapter included in the bundle would be one. You could also run three of the same monitors without the adapter, with one instead being connected via HDMI. This is all done while making use of "Eyefinity" which is separate to just having three monitors in span mode, something that could be done before. With this setup you could have three monitors and game at 5760 x 1200 in games, as you'll have that resolution option.

overclockersclub‘s review Edit

Although on paper the Sapphire HD 5770 FleX appears to be just a reference designed 5770 with a different heat sink, it proves that it is much more through the overclocking headroom and how cool it operates. Being able to benchmark at 1 GHz core is not an insignificant feat, especially without voltage modification. The core was tested with a 15% overclock and the memory tested with a 13% overclock, not bad at all and there was the possibility for more headroom with enough patience. The idea of being able to use three monitors together for ATI Eyefinity with normal DVI connectors is a nice bonus too although not everyone will need that capability.
