SANYO PLV-Z3000 Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

A reasonably priced projector with typically good LCD image quality, but its colours aren't quite as good as the very best LCD or DLP models.

ITreviews‘s review Edit

There's no doubt that the PLV-Z3000 is a serious piece of kit. Whether you're watching the big match or settling down to a high definition Blu-ray movie, it'll knock your socks off with a bright, clear and highly-detailed projection. However, its price tag places it firmly in the enthusiast segment of the market. If you're looking to make your first foray into projectors, Sanyo's impressive PLV-Z700, which is now available for under £1,000, might be a better option.

Here's another consummately professional home cinema projector. While it seems the familiar big names are doing their usual thing at this end of the market, arguably less high-profile companies such as Sanyo have really upped their game. However, there's still one less invigorating aspect of projector design that most manufacturers share, and that's a lack of interest in doing anything too creative with the outside. The same is true of the bland PLZ-Z300.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Sanyo has come up with a decent value projector ripe for those who want to create a mid-range home cinema. Its massive four high-definition feeds - more than on most similar projectors - lend it unusual versatility while its quiet operation and easy set-up make it an attractive product even to the tech-wary. Sharp, smooth and contrast-heavy HD images make this a great option for anyone wanting to take advantage of Blu-ray disc’s ability to go large.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Few projectors of any price pay Sanyo's attention to NTSC/60Hz pics, and if you have an extensive collection of imported DVDs or LaserDiscs then the Z3000 should be short-listed.

I might as well cut straight to the chase here and say that if money's no object, I personally would go for Panasonic's PT-AE3000 ahead of this Sanyo. Partly on account of the Panasonic's seriously handy integrated anamorphic lens adjustment, but mostly because I find its out-of-the-box colour settings markedly better and its presentation of dark scenes more dynamic.

About Projectors‘s review Edit

One of the latest home theater projectors to come from Sanyo is the PLV-Z3000. This model has 1200 ANSI lumens, full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, and a 65000:1 contrast ratio.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

Sanyo's affordable 1080p front projector has its share of flaws, but still represents a good value in its category.

Home Theater‘s review Edit

Despite a color gamut that should be more accurate and a color management system unable to correct for this, the Sanyo produced a very impressive picture. Two years ago, you wouldn’t get this sort of performance for even twice the price. If you can accommodate the need for a separate screen and a darkened room, you might consider a projection setup as an alternative to a one-piece, flat-panel television monitor for your home theater.
