XFX PV-T88G-YDF4 Pro Reviews

HEXUS‘s review Edit

Moving our attention on to the brand-new GeForce 8800 GTS 320MiB XXX Edition, we see that performance is comfortably above an 8800 GTS' and, in most cases, slightly higher than the 640MiB version's. The 1.5GHz shader clock, in particular, offers stellar performance in games which are heavy on shader-created effects.

While the price difference is definitely there for the GTS and GTX, the performance gains are fantastic and there is a real difference between owning a GTS and a GTX. What is surprising though is just how much extra performance is on offer from the GTX when compared to the GTS.

Overall the card puts a tick in a lot of the right boxes and it’s really a model worth looking at, unfortunately the biggest problem with the card is the price.

The XFX 8800GTS 512MB Alpha Dog lags quite far behind the GTX when AA is turned on at higher resolutions and even suffers in some games when AA isn’t on at all. There is also the matter of an overly loud fan which will get on your nerves in pretty short order. The 8800GTS 512MB is positioned as more of a niche product for people who want the best performance possible outside of the power-hungry G80-based cards.
