Motorola DROID PRO Pro Reviews

phonedog‘s review Edit

This device isn't the biggest, fastest, or the all-around best on paper, but it undoubtedly carries the name “Pro” well. For $179.99 with a two-year agreement and mail-in rebate, the Droid Pro on Verizon is a great choice for heavy texters and businessmen who need to kick out emails on the go.

The Droid Pro delivers a solid business-oriented device that also makes plenty of room for recreational use. I'm sold.

Overall, I was impressed with the Motorola Droid Pro, except for the sound problems during calls. It's a nice riff on the portrait QWERTY keyboard design, keeping all of the best Android and Motorola social networking features, and adding a few extras that will satisfy business users. It doesn't match a BlackBerry phone shot for shot, but for every aspect that falls short, there's another positive to keep the game competitive.

Phone Arena‘s review Edit

There are many things to like about the Motorola DROID Pro and for the most part it succeeds in what it sets out to do, namely steal the business user segment from RIM. The Android operating system is more than capable of supporting enterprise users, and with added benefits such as VPN support and remote device management the DROID Pro offers what most corporations demand in a smartphone. It is not without its shortcomings though, and we feel first and foremost the keyboard needs to be worked on, followed closely by call quality

Macworld‘s review Edit

The everyday smartphone shopper will probably pass on the Droid Pro, but it has the security and enterprise features to please any business or IT professional. Additionally, the form factor is ideal for quickly banging out e-mails and messages. It is unfortunate that the call quality is so strange though, or else the Droid Pro would be the perfect business phone.

The Droid Pro has a lot going for it – an excellent physical keyboard, a touchscreen, the Android operating system, and a compact form. Only the low resolution of the screen and its spotty responsiveness to the touch mars this otherwise very capable smart phone.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Motorola Droid Pro is a high-end Android phone that looks like a BlackBerry and is almost—but not quite—as enterprise-friendly.

SlashGear‘s review Edit

There’s a lot to like about the DROID PRO, not least one of the best keyboards on an Android device today. That Motorola seemingly had to look to RIM’s design in order to achieve that may prompt a few fanboy arguments, but the end result is excellent provision for heavy emailers. Those who spend their time browsing, however, may want to look to other phones, given the cramped display and relatively low resolution on offer. It’s not a deal-breaker, especially if you’re used to the typical BlackBerry screen, but it’s a pain-point if you’ve come from another touchscreen-centric Android handset.

LAPTOP Magazine‘s review Edit

The Motorola Droid 2 is not a BlackBerry-killer, but it is a fairly good Android device for business users who want a keyboard that's always at the ready and an extra layer of security than your typical Google phone. Plus, you can access a heck of a lot more apps on this device than anything from RIM. The biggest issue we have with the Droid Pro is the small and low-resolution display. For $30 less, the Droid 2 offers a larger, longer screen--perfectly sized and shaped for viewing spreadsheets and watching widescreen movies--a more spacious keyboard, 12 GB more memory, and hardier battery life.

The enhanced security features and touch-screen-keyboard combo make the Motorola Droid Pro a nice BlackBerry alternative, but it still has some shortcomings.

MobileBurn‘s review Edit

The Motorola DROID Pro for Verizon Wireless is a good all-around device. The call audio could be better, but the form factor and world-roaming capability are top notch. My only other complaint would be that the phone is a bit plain looking. But in the end, business users are most interested in getting the job done, and there is probably no Android smartphone on the market that is as efficient to use as the Motorola DROID Pro. It's a really good phone that just needs a bit of call audio tweaking.
