Qnap TS-219P Pro Reviews

bit-tech‘s review Edit

The TS-219P was very fast in all the speed tests, achieving second place in three of our four tests. For example, it produced an average write rate of 27MB/sec in the large file test and 17.6MB/sec in the small file test. However, these impressive results still weren’t enough to prevent it from being trounced by the Synology DS-210+, which is nearly twice as fast. The TS-219P is a very good NAS box, with a good blend of easy-to-use features, performance and an active online community. However, the Synology DS-210J is more than £100 cheaper, just as easy to use and is particularly well featured, while being only slightly slower.

xbitlabs‘s review Edit

The QNAP TS-219P is a high-quality, functional and fast midrange solution. Its performance is high enough for a home network or a small workgroup. QNAP’s firmware offers a broad selection of integrated features and this functionality can be extended further if necessary. The only downside I can find is that the BitTorrent client is not very functional, but you can solve this problem by installing a third-party alternative. The integrated video surveillance system supports two IP cameras without your having to pay extra for licenses.

For a dual drive appliance, the TS-219 packs the features in and delivers a reasonable performance. It also looks good value, delivers plenty of backup tools and the new Ajax-based web interface is a very welcome addition that'll make configuration so much easier.

reghardware‘s review Edit

An extra £15 will get you the Thecus M3800, which has three drive bays with Raid 5 support and a 1080p HDMI output so you can view media directly on a TV alongside its regular Nas capabilities. But the TS-219P is better value, easier to use and has a more complete interface plus a bounty of software features. The TS-219P has a more comprehensive firmware than any other dual-bay Nas we’ve tested. It’s not the quickest and its power management needs a small upgrade, but Qnap has created a Nas that geeks and layman alike will spend many hours enjoying.
