HIS HD 5850 1GB Pro Reviews

ITreviews‘s review Edit

The HIS HD 5870 delivers a huge amount of DirectX 11 power that gets you ready for Windows 7 and the next generation of gaming. It currently looks rather expensive at £299 but this new graphics card takes a massive step forward and makes the competition look silly by comparison.

TechSpot‘s review Edit

The more affordable HD 5850 also offers a few other advantages, including lower power consumption, reduced heat output and quieter operation; not to mention its size allows it to fit in any standard computer case. You could say the Radeon HD 5850 offers the best value proposition of the two, while the Radeon HD 5870 certainly remains the best performer.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

Offering a terrific blend of performance and price, the Radeon HD 5850 is for those who want top-end gaming performance, but don't have the cash to splash on the Radeon HD 5870. As it is, the HD 5850 makes the GTX 285 completely redundant. Not only does it outperform it in terms of frame rates, it also offers DirectX 11 support, and is less warm to operate and more power efficient.

The good news as well is that if you want a bit of extra power later down the track, adding a second HD 5850 really does yield some impressive performance gains which make it an attractive option.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The AMD ATI Radeon HD 5850 is an astonishing graphics card. It offers performance only matched by cards costing £300 or more yet itself costs only £200. As a bonus, it also has very low power consumption figures. We really can't recommend it highly enough. This particular HIS model does seem to be demanding more money at the moment than otherwise identical cards in all the shops we've looked at, though, so be sure to shop around.
