Sapphire HD 4850 512MB GDDR3 PCI-E Pro Reviews

ExtremeTech‘s review Edit

Quiet and efficient Zalman cooler, good performance.Sapphire and Zalman both make very good products, and this mashup is what you'd expect, but nothing more.

HEXUS‘s review Edit

Our advice would be to put it for on your short-list if you want a capable graphics card that goes about its business in a quiet, efficient manner. Performance is suitably solid, provided by the underlying architecture, and the inclusion of the ZALMAN heatsink is a sensible method of differentiating it from the crowd.

It's been a long time since a Radeon was the graphics card of choice at the all-important $199 price point, but the HD 4850 looks like it might have the title locked up. The current GeForce 9800 GTX is simply no match for AMD's latest mid-range offering, and Nvidia's surprise, the GeForce 9800 GTX+, has quite a bit of ground to make up if it hopes to be competitive. We'll have a full work-up of the GTX+ soon, of course, but the cards only just arrived this morning.

I absolutely love this card and the performance it offers. Considering stock is already available and the price is nothing short of fantastic, there isn’t a whole lot not to get excited about.

If you find yourself wanting a HD 4850 that packs a bit more punch and cools significantly better than the stock solution, don’t be afraid of spending the extra few dollars to go down the TOXIC route.

The HD4850 offers users the best bang for their buck at this point in time and ATI should be proud of themselves for keeping costs down while bringing some amazing performance to the table. Thus, we are proud to present the Sapphire HD4850 512MB with our Dam Good Value Award.
