Panasonic DMP-BDT100 Pro Reviews

www.whathifi.com‘s review Edit

The Panasonic's spec is a smidge short of the complete package, but this is a cracking performer at a great price

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Keenly priced for those after a future-proof Blu-ray player, this deck handles 2D and 3D alike, but cuts a few corners along the way. Lacking built-in Wi-Fi, there’s integrated storage for BD Live or no analogue audio outputs - it’s best paired with a 3D Ready amplifier for home cinema. Overall this versatile deck performs well enough with high-def, DVD and 3D to be future-fit, though Panasonic’s higher-spec DMP-BDT300 is a safer bet.

If you’re already sold on the idea of 3D and have bought (or plan to buy) a 3D-ready TV, then it makes perfect sense to stick the DMP-BDT100 on your shortlist, particularly at this more affordable price point. Its 3D performance in tandem with a Panasonic plasma is fantastic, thanks to its entrancing depth and detail, plus it’s no slouch with 2D material. It’s just a shame that Panasonic couldn’t chuck proper DLNA networking into the mix and bulk out Viera Cast a bit , as these shortcomings make Sony, LG and Samsung’s 3D decks feel like better value for money. Other than that though, the DMP-BDT100 is an impressive Blu-ray proposition.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

Even if it's lower than that (and despite its top-notch AV performance), I expect it could struggle against its better specified competition: the DLNA function is limited and online content via VieraCast lags behind the portals of rival brands Sony and Samsung.
