MSI N460GTX Cyclone 768D5 Pro Reviews

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

We were satisfied with its improved performance, thanks to its higher core clock speeds, but we felt that MSI could have done more by bumping up memory clock speeds too. Still on the subject of performance, we also found the MSI N460GTX Cyclone to be an able overclocker.

I couldn't say anything else about the GTX 460 and the MSI Cyclone version of the card. It's simply awe inspiring.

Overall the GTX 460 in SLI is just amazing; the performance is huge but NVIDIA have done to the GTX 480 what they did to the GTX 465 and GTX 470 with this model. They may have shot themselves in the foot as the GTX 460 in SLI shouldn't be cheaper than a single GTX 480 while at the same time faster. We're talking around 20% cheaper.

Now if noise is something that you're worried about, we would still recommend the GTX 460; not because it makes less noise but because it makes the same noise but offers more performance. Power draw is important? At idle the cards perform very close, at stock clocks the GTX 460 draws a little more power and when overclocked it draws a good bit more than the HD 5830 but it offers more performance.

Even though it isn’t the highest performing GTX 460 we have looked at, the 768MB version of the Cyclone is a good card with a simply incredible heatsink. In addition, its overall value is literally second to none. As such, it receives our Dam Good Value Award.

Few configurations are able to outperform the GTX 460 768MB Cyclone SLI Overclocked setup we tested today. Out of those few, none are able to offer this value and value isn't a word I thought we would ever be saying when talking about SLI. There's value here and there's an absolute bucket load of it. NVIDIA called in back-up when they were pinned down by ATI. That back-up is laying down an ass whopping to the red team in the price sector that matters to both companies.
