ASUS ARES/2DIS/4GD5 Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

There is no doubt about it: The ASUS ARES is a damn cool video card. We can say that it is currently the fastest video card on the planet. If you want the fastest single card offering, this is it, no question. It is big and impressive looking. The ASUS ARES has two great GPUs and 4GB of very fast GDDR5 memory.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

If price is your first consideration, this isn't the card for you. You have to accept the Asus Ares for what it is: a premium, limited-edition offering. But you get exceptional performance, build quality and exclusivity. This feast of a graphics card is simply not meant for ordinary folk.

HotHardware‘s review Edit

Summarizing the Asus ARES' performance couldn't be any easier. Quite simply, the Asus ARES is the fastest graphics card we have ever tested. The ARES' combination of dual-Radeon HD 5870 GPUs and 4GB (2GB per GPU) of fast GDDR5 frame buffer memory resulted in excellent performance across the board. In every test, at every resolution, the Asus ARES came out on top.

If you want the fastest single graphics card on the market today, then the ASUS ARES is your one and only option. By combining a pair of TRUE Radeon HD 5870 GPUs with a total of 4GB of GDDR5 memory, ASUS has engineered a graphics card unrivaled anywhere else. If you have $1200 burning a hole in your pocket and you don't know my address, then line up when they go on sale so you can own a piece of gaming nirvana.

HEXUS‘s review Edit

Priced at a jaw-dropping £1,200, it's out of reach for the vast majority of users but ASUS's outstanding design and presentation makes it one of the most desirable graphics cards ever launched. The ROG ARES doesn't shout buzz words such as 3D or PhysX, but it screams performance and its size and weight exude a benchmark-beating confidence.

HardwareZone‘s review Edit

As we expected, the ASUS Ares is comparable to twin Radeon HD 5870 cards in CrossFireX (once you factor in the drver differences) and significantly quicker than the Radeon HD 5970. Hence, the Ares is easily the most powerful and fastest single graphics card in the world, trumping the slower clocked Radeon HD 5970.

Tom's Hardware‘s review Edit

On a final note, we have to consider the target audience of this card. Let's be honest, nobody buys a $1200 graphics card because they're overly concerned with performance per dollar. They buy it for high performance, exclusivity, style, and maybe even bragging rights. On these fronts, the Asus ARES can not be denied.

Let’s throw practicality out the window for a second here and look at the ARES without taking price into consideration. There is no denying that the ARES is currently king of the hill when it comes to uncompromising single card performance and everything about its design is cutting edge.
