GIGABYTE GV-R577SO-1GD Pro Reviews

hardocp‘s review Edit

The Gigabyte HD 5770 Super Overclock is not a bad video card, however it isn't all that much better from a standard reference HD 5770.

Of the trio, the Gigabyte HD 5770 Super Overclock is our pick of the lot. Not only it is faster than a reference Radeon HD 5770, it also runs cooler as well. All in all, it's an improvement over a bone stock Radeon HD 5770.

The HD 5770 SoC is not a bad card in any way, shape or form. Rather, it is a perfectly good card that doesn’t have any business wearing the Super Overclock badge. If marketing begins diluting what was once a name synonymous with high performance, Gigabyte will have a hard time setting their cards apart from those of the competition. Let's hope this trend doesn't continue.

For the money there's not really a better buy than the HD 5770 SOC. Sure, with models like the GTX 460 out now that offer amazing value for money, they're closer to the $200 mark. If you want to spend closer to the $150 area this is a better option. At the end of it all we're able to run just about everything at 1920 x 1200 with game settings maxed out. Sure, you might be avoiding AA and AF and as more intensive games come out over the life of the model you might have to drop the detail level down, but really, for the money it's a great little buy.
