Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ45 Pro Reviews

PC Pro‘s review Edit

Decent photos and videos, especially at this price, but performance and features are lacking.

Camera Labs‘s review Edit

The Panasonic Lumix FZ45 / FZ40 improves upon its best-selling predecessor in a number of important areas, most notably the lens range. In the shadow of the Powershot SX30 IS it's easy to overlook the FZ45 / FZ40's new 24x optical zoom. It may not be as long as the Canon, but it does offer wider and much longer coverage than the earlier FZ38 / FZ35 - and the 600mm maximum will be more than sufficient for most photographers.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

Ultimately this is a camera that almost anyone should be able to quickly get to grips with, indicating appeal to the widest possible audience. It’s also one that can cope with most potential photographic subjects at a variety of focal lengths in a second or two. Whilst not perfect, we feel that at its current street price it’s a bit of a steal.

expertreviews‘s review Edit

The FZ38 was an excellent ultra-zoom camera, and ultimately, the FZ45 isn’t much different. Its bigger zoom range is welcome; its higher-resolution sensor most definitely isn’t. On balance, there’s not much to choose between the two, and the newer model is no more expensive than the older one at current prices. However, both cameras are overshadowed by the Fujifilm FinePix HS10, which is now available for around £250. Panasonic needs to step out of the megapixel race if it wants to regain the ultra-zoom crown.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

Announced at the same time as the headline-grabbing FZ100 with its 11fps burst mode, free-angle screen and full HD video, the cheaper DMC-FZ45 / FZ40 inevitably suffers by comparison, but is still a worthy contender in the now crowded super-zoom market.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Panasonic FZ45 is a superbly designed and very well made super-zoom camera that is absolutely loaded with advanced features. It has comfortable handling, excellent performance in all lighting conditions, and is a real pleasure to use. In general use the image quality is very good, but disappointingly its high-ISO performance and dynamic range are inferior to its predecessor the FZ38.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

There's a lot to like about this camera, so long as you're aware of the limitations of the monster lens and the HD video recording features. If you don't want the hassle of changing lenses, the DMC-FZ45's smart technology, quality optics and convincing image quality make it a great buy for £300.
