Nikon COOLPIX S1000pj Pro Reviews

expertreviews‘s review Edit

A camera with a built-in projector seems like a great idea, but image quality is nothing special and the projector risks being a short-lived novelty.

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

The Nikon S1000pj was created for a specific set of photographers: the party-goer, proud parent, and all-around show-off are most likely to find this camera appealing. Based on my experience using the S1000pj, I'd say that if you fit into one of the categories above, you won't be disappointed. Just don't expect it to outperform other basic Nikon point-and-shoots or to project images in bright rooms or against dark surfaces with stunning results. And do expect to use flash when indoor lighting is dim.

reghardware‘s review Edit

There is no doubt that the Coolpix S1000pj is a great concept and a superb technical achievement but as a £400 camera the performance is pretty ordinary, not to mention the lack of manual control and HD movie recording. Nikon should also re-think some of the camera’s operating processes. But if you’re really keen on having a camera that also doubles as a projector – and can find the Coolpix S1000pj at a discount price – then you’ll have fun with this model.

ephotozine‘s review Edit

Despite a bad result from the noise test, the overall picture quality of the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is pretty good. Metering has worked well and it focuses reasonably fast. The beauty is in the projector and in a double whammy, noise problems won't be as noticeable when viewed on a projector screen.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

In addition to a solid-if-unexciting list of specifications, the Nikon Coolpix S1000pj also packs a built-in projector. The projector technology is young and so a little underpowered, but it's fun. The camera itself is a little chunky, but it remains an astonishing feat of miniaturisation. It's not especially easy to use, but a slew of tech helps minimise the possibility of any inevitable rookie mistakes. Manual controls are buried away in the menu system.

PhotographyBLOG‘s review Edit

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj caused quite a stir when it was announced. We are used to more and more features being crammed into digital cameras, but an integrated projector was something truly novel. And, while we are sure that the future will bring more cameras sporting this “accessory”, it has been successful in making the Nikon S1000pj completely unique in the current digicam market.

Register Hardware‘s review Edit

Crams two devices into a surprisingly compact body, but its performance and functionality are a tad disappointing for the price.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

The camera delivers decent results and the projector works too. But the real question is what you are going to do with it. We guess that if you are interested in the camera you can already see the benefits of having projection in the same device.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj's built-in projector offers a unique and fun picture- and video-playback experience, but when it comes to performance and features this $400+ camera doesn't deliver.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The CoolPix S1000pj is a gadget lover's dream, and is sure to draw an admiring crowd, at least until the next cool toy comes along. Build quality and design are up to Nikon's usual high standard, and the projector technology certainly works well enough, but annoyingly it is let down by mediocre camera performance. Considering the cost, only the gadget lovers are going to buy it.

CNET Reviews‘s review Edit

The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is all about the built-in projector; if you don't need it, you don't need this camera.
