Nikon COOLPIX S230 Pro Reviews

DigitalCameraReview‘s review Edit

Did the S230 deliver the basic image quality and fun-factor we were looking for? With a few reservations, I'd say it did. In good light, it captured some nice images. Colors are slightly saturated, but not to an extreme.

www.trustedreviews.com‘s review Edit

The Nikon CoolPix S230 is attractively designed, and it is certainly well made, but the trendy touch-screen interface can’t hide the fact that this is actually a very average camera. It suffers from slow performance, a very limited range of features including lacklustre zoom range and surprisingly poor lens quality, especially considering its relatively high price.

Pocket-lint‘s review Edit

One point we shouldn’t overlook when talking about touchscreen devices is battery life. Nikon rate it at 160 shots, however you’ll probably not reach this number once you take into account all the extra viewing and playing around. We did get over 100 shots from a full charge however, using a typical mix of flash and playback. It performs better than some cameras in this space, whilst still being compact. If you need better battery life, then losing the touchscreen and opting for the Coolpix S220 will perhaps suit better.

Steve's Digicams‘s review Edit

What really makes the Nikon Coolpix S230 stand out is the large 3-inch touch LCD screen on the back. Complimenting the screen is the new Expeed image processor, auto scene select mode, and Nikon's smart portrait system. With a MSRP of US$229.95, this is a very stylish and easy to use ultra-compact camera. If you like the camera but can live without the touch LCD screen, check out the very similar Coolpix S220 for just US$150.

PC Magazine‘s review Edit

The Nikon Coolpix S230 is one of the least-expensive touch-screen compact point-and-shoots on the market, but its image quality isn't even average.

The Nikon Coolpix S230 is a decent ultracompact camera with a little extra wow factor of a touch-screen interface...
