The PIXMA Pro9000 Mk II is a good, photo-enthusiast's A3+ printer. It's easy to use, versatile in what it can do and produces good quality prints in remarkably short order. Having said that, we were expecting even better print quality than we saw, and you may have to work with the supplied software to get the best it's capable of giving. The price is an SRP and we'd expect to see it drop by £100 to £150 once it gets out into the retail channel.

Canon's Pixma Pro9000 Mark II is easier to set up and use than many semi-professional printers.

The Imaging Resource‘s review Edit

The Canon Pro9000 Mark II is a faster Pro9000. Its dyes deliver a brilliant range of color that, under proper storage, will outlive you (which is all that counts). And yet the printer is capable of subtle variations in tone and color that, printed on a variety of fine art media, simply astonished us.

printercomparison‘s review Edit

Reading back through my notes, I was struck again by just how many times we compared the $500 Pro9000 Mark II – and, in many of these cases, compared it favorably – to the much more expensive Pro9500 Mark II. As with the original versions of these models, Canon has simply refused to "dumb down" the Pro9000, meaning the dye-ink version of their wide-format printer gets the same pro-grade features as its more costly sibling. And given that one of the few criticisms we could make about the Pro9500 Mark II was that its price tag would exclude many amateur shooters, the Pro9000 Mark II is just what the doctor ordered.

TechRadar UK‘s review Edit

For large-format glossy colour prints, the dye-based Pro9000 Mark II leaves pigment-based printers standing, with drop-dead gorgeous and lusciously smooth print quality. The only area in which it could do slightly better is black and white photo printing but, even here, there are some neat cool/warm tonal adjustment options.

reghardware‘s review Edit

If you need to print photos larger than A4, the choice comes down to Canon, Epson or HP. Their A3 and A3+ models produce good, multiple-ink colour images, but the accurate colours and fast print speeds of the Pixma Pro9000 Mk II must put it well up the shortlist.

PC Advisor‘s review Edit

For the professional photographer, spending more will get you a more capable alternative with pigment-based inks for increased vibrancy. For amateurs, however, the Canon PIXMA Pro9000 Mark II A3+ inkjet photo printer provides great photo quality without requiring loads of configuration.
